From 23 to 29 June 2018, Banyan Tree Bintan is pleased to present its second edition of Taste of Thailand, a week-long Thai gastronomic experience at its signature Saffron Restaurant.

Taste of Thailand guest stars Chef Porntip Eumanan, the Thai chef de cuisine from Banyan Tree Bangkok, who will take the helm to serve up a bona fide Thai culinary affair. Chef Porntip is also an instrumental right-hand to the Saffron Corporate Master Chef to support training, menu development and Thai food promotions across all Saffron restaurants worldwide.

As part of this epicurean event, Chef Porntip has curated a selection of modern yet authentic Thai cuisine. Diners can choose between the four-course menu or the six-course menu, both tantalisingly tempting, and also opt for wine pairings with their courses.

Food aficionados who are keen in learning the craft of Thai culinary can also participate in cooking demonstration sessions with lunch, hosted by Chef Porntip, at IDR400,000++ per person.

Taste of Thailand: Four-Course Menu

For those interested in a light meal, the four-course menu offers a fresh and delicate taste.

Diners can look forward to savouring Spicy Duck Salad, made of well-seasoned duck in crispy sticky rice, string bean, and cucumber with minty zest. No Thai meal is complete without the second course, Tom Yum Goong, with the sharp citrus bite of lemongrass and galangal.

The third course draws from the popular southern Thai-style Braised Beef Massaman Curry, served with lotus seed and saffron rice. The four-course menu is completed with dessert –Taro and Pandan Ice Cream – a crunchy taro dumpling soaked in fragrant coconut milk and pandan ice cream.

Diners can then look forward to savouring the Pan-Seared Tiger Prawns, served with young ginger, lemongrass salad and chili lime dressing. A prerequisite of all Thai meals, Traditional Spicy Beef Soup is the third course served, crafted with only locally-sourced lemongrass, galangal and basil to ensure the freshest taste.

Those who adore a robust flavour will enjoy the Roast Duck served in potent tamarind sauce and spicy pineapple salad, as well as the Red Curry Grilled Seabass slathered in creamy trio chilli curry sauce with betel leaf garnish.
