TRACE Restaurant and Bar at Element Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Situated on the 40th floor of Ilham Tower, TRACE restaurant and bar is the in-house F&B outlet for the newly launched eco-conscious hotel, Element Kuala Lumpur which is housed in the same building.

The restaurant is open from 6.30am to 11pm daily and offers a stunning bird’s eye view of KL city.

TRACE

TRACE offers a delectable variety of food options – from healthy western-fusion delights to the coolest cocktail trends in town. As part of the sustainable tourism push by the Westin group, behind the Element brand, the restaurant is committed to serving fresh, local produce, which in turn supports the local farmers in Malaysia and reduces carbon footprints.

In the morning, the breakfast buffet (6.30am to 10.30am) is available for hotel guests and is priced at RM70 nett per pax for external guests. Check out the spread available:

The lunch menu is available from 11am to 5pm while the dinner menu starts from 5pm to 11pm. During my last stay at Element Kuala Lumpur, I  tried out a variety of their menu items:

Seafood Char Kuay Teow (RM38) – Wok-fried rice noodles, egg, local chives, sprouts and fish cake. Topped with sauteed scallop, flower squid and prawn.
Satay Ponorogo (RM 32 for Chicken or Beef or RM 38 for Lamb or Mixed) – Half-dozen of satay served with tangy peanut sauce, mojo sambal, fried shallot, rice cake, cucumber and onion.
Hot & Spicy Buffalo Chicken (RM38) – Spicy peri-peri glaze, Stilton cheese dressing, warm roasted vegetable salad
Exotic Fruit Lava Carrot Cake (RM26) – Freshly baked homemade exotic lava carrot cake with fresh berries
Alaskan Black Cod (RM105) – Semi-dried tomatoes and olives crusted cod fish, carrot puree, caprese salad, cilantro-green chili sauce and basil oil
TRACE Caesar Salad with Smoked Loch Fyne salmon (RM38)
TRACE Caesar Salad (RM28) – Baby romaine, crispy anchovies, soft-centred hen’s egg, Parmigiano shavings, turkey ham crisp and garlic croutons
Beef It Up Pizza (RM49) – Pulled BBQ beef, pepperoni beef, streaky beef, grilled pineapple, jalapeno and cilantro
Eggs-smoked Salmon Bagel (RM28) – Scrambled egg, olive-caper guacamole, organic micro cress salad
Nasi Lemak Kelapa Dara (RM38) – Extra virgin coconut oil steamed rice, crispy anchovies, onion, peanuts, egg omelette and kyuri. Served with tiger prawn sambal and chicken roulade rendang.
Flambe on Iceberg (RM26) – Salted gula melaka ice cream, coconut ice cream, served with brown meringue
Sous Vide Baby Chicken (RM54) – Garlic boursin and basil pesto baby chicken galantine, turkey ham hasselback potato gratin, asparagus spear, chasseur sauce
36-hour Vacuum Cooked Short Rib Beef (500gm) (RM155) – Hickory smoked, vegetable crudites and salsa picante
Earl Grey Chocolate Sphere (RM28) – Earl grey cremeux served with warm lemon cream

There is a good mix of local and western cuisines on the menu, priced reasonable for guests to enjoy a relaxed dining experience with a nice view of the KL cityscape. For hotel guests staying at Element hotel, it is a great F&B option for those who are too lazy to venture out.

For memorable dishes, their local selections were pretty good and the short rib was soft and succulent, leaving an impression, on top of the generous portion size.

The main highlight of dining at TRACE is really the view and that it is secretly tucked away on the 40th floor of Ilham Tower, offering a quiet respite in the CBD area.
