Hello Kitty And Sanrio Friends Return For a Kawaii Christmas at Changi Airport

If you missed Sanrio friends during the June holidays, you are in for a treat. Hello Kitty and her friends, Dear Daniel Cinnamonroll, Gudetama, Little Twin Stars (Kiki and Lala), My Melody and Pompompurin have returned to Changi Airport to celebrate a Kawaii Christmas with you!

We were at the airport earlier to bring you the scoop on WHERE you can find these adorable characters and HOW you can bring them home with you.

Catch The Performances

This is the Mystical Garden, which features a gazebo and a treehouse, topped with Hello Kitty’s signature ribbon. The gazebo is open from 10am to 10pm daily. You will find different Sanrio characters surrounding this area. Not only is this central area ideal for taking cute pictures to commemorate Christmas, it is also THE place to catch the performances with the Sanrio Characters and Singapore’s first indoor drone show at the airport.

From 3pm and 5pm daily, watch Sanrio characters come to life in the Mystical Garden in a mesmerizing symphony of festive music and colourful lighting effects, culminating in a gorgeous snowfall at the end!

The Drone shows are held daily at 7:30pm and 9pm till 5 January 2018. The star attractions are the 40 drone ‘fireflies’ at the end of the show as they choreograph enchanting formations like snowflakes and Christmas trees to delight fans both young and young-at-heart.

Meet The Characters

Here is the schedule for character appearances, so you can ‘stalk’ them at the opportune time. Just kidding. From now until 24 December 2017, different Sanrio characters will make their appearances at each meet and greet session. Come get up close and personal with your favorite ones at Changi Airport Terminal 3 Departure Hall – Immigration at 4pm and 6pm.

  • Gudetama: 18 and 19 November
  • Twin Little Stars: 25 and 26 November
  • My Melody: 2 and 3 December
  • Cinnamoroll: 9 and 10 December
  • Pompompurin: 16 and 17 December
  • Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel: 23 and 24 December.

If you are big on photo-taking, do not miss the four-metre tall Hello Kitty topiary at T2’s Departure Hall.

Kawaii fun and games

Waiting for the performances or characters to show up can be a real test of patience. At T3 Departure Hall Check-In Hall Row 11 (Public Area), there is a specially curated Kawaii-styled games and activities booth for you to pass time.

Tree House Catcher is a fun option where you can either be a human crane or the operator. This is a two-person game where one operates the ‘controller’, while the other person plays the ‘crane’ and attempts to grab a gift from the gift pool while suspended mid-air. You can win different prizes, including a 1-metre tall Sanrio character plush toy!

Another fun game is the Yoyo Tsuri Fountain where visitors can ‘fish’ for water balloons at the fountain and redeem their prizes at the Gachapon Machine, a mini ferris wheel where players can spin for gifts.

These games are free for visitors who have made a minimum spending of $30 at the airport. This entitles you to one game and one activity.

If time permits, get a glitter tattoo with sparkly Sanrio designs on your face or body, done by professionals. This is available on Fridays (6pm – 10pm), weekends and public holidays (4pm – 10pm).  Customize your bags using Sanrio stamps on blank tote bags – only 60 will be given out on weekdays and 100 on weekends.

This is on a first come first served basis. Stocks are limited.

For those with young kids, check out the plush toy Christmas Tree in the middle of the departure Hall (T1) as well as the new Sanrio-themed children’s playground, a first in any airport in Southeast Asia, at the Basement 2 (T3).

Go Home With Exclusive Sanrio Characters Collectibles

Bring home these cute Sanrio plushies*. There are eight in total, collect them all if you can! Each toy can be purchased for $8.90 with a minimum spend of $60 at any of the stores in the public area, or $120 in the transit area and supermarkets (in a single receipt).

*While stocks last.

In addition, check out the specially designed postage stamp set featuring Hello Kitty and her friends in Changi’s Mystical Garden. Showcasing all eight characters, the stamp folder set comes with a free Sanrio-themed lanyard. The Sanrio stamp folder can be purchased at Changi Airport T3 B2 Sanrio redemption booth.

You can also win three different Sanrio character plush toys in the lucky draw. You qualify each time you spent $60 at Changi Airport’s participating outlets from 17 November to 31 December 2017. Each single receipt entitles you to one lucky draw chance in each qualifying period. Changi Rewards members can register for the lucky draw HERE while non-members can register HERE.

Enjoy your vacation and have a Kawaii good time with your Sanrio Friends!
