Singaporeans could save close to 40% on Christmas flights to a range of destinations if they book in the next three weeks, according to new data released.
However, global travel search engine Skyscanner reveals this and many more in their newest report on travel trends and deals.
When is the best time to book Christmas flights?
The insights, based on Skyscanner’s flight price data from the past two years*, show that the second half of August and early September are one of the best times to bag a bargain on flights to a number of popular Christmas getaways.
How cheap is cheap?
During the last two weeks of August, Singaporeans may save nearly 40% on Christmas flights to Penang, and over 30% on bookings to Jakarta and Kuching. Flights to Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo are usually 20% cheaper than average as well.
Missed this bargain season? There’s another one coming up
The start of September is another ‘deals date’ that bargain hunters should circle in the calendar, with Christmas flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei and Yangon typically a third below average.
How early to Singaporeans book their flights?
Skyscannner’s Best Time to Book data shows that the best time to book flights to 10 of Singapore’s most-loved destinations is typically between 21–25 weeks in advance.
Travellers using this booking window can benefit from average savings of 21–22%, however most Singaporeans don’t search for flights until one to two weeks before they fly – and incur much higher prices as a result.
