Photographers Unite! ‘Snapshots Of a Little Red Dot’ Photography Exhibition Set To Showcase Best Singaporean Story

You know how the saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words. That is enough to form a novella. Or in the case of Capitol Piazza’s ‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’, it is enough to narrate all the unique stories of Singapore –from past to present.

‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’ is a photography exhibition that celebrates all things Singaporean. Hosted by Capitol Piazza, the exhibition will seek to appeal to citizens and those internalized into the local culture, through shared beliefs and a sense of familiarity –both visually and emotionally. In the lead up to this year’s National Day, photographers from all walks of life have been busy combing every crook and cranny of Singapore (and even hundreds of feet above the city!), in the hopes of framing a particular facet that resonates with them most. Of course, their efforts were also inspired by the ‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’ photography competition, in which the most poignant of storytellers would stand a chance to win attractive prizes. The competition has since closed.

If you are curious as to the kind of pictures that will be on display, you may follow Capitol Piazza on Instagram (@capitolpiazza) and check out the hashtag #SnapshotsOfALittleRedDot. There is also an Instagram competition that is happening right now until 25 July 2017, 2359 hours, as a little FYI for those who want to slip in at the last minute to win themselves a prize.

The ‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’ photography exhibition takes place at Capitol Theatre, from 30 July to 8 August 2017. Doors open from 11:00am to 9:00pm daily. Whether you are a professional photographer or a budding enthusiast, come and bask in a world of Singapore stories told from behind the lens! Also, you will get the opportunity to bump shoulders with fellow photographers, as well as trainers who will be conducting a series of free workshops. You can expect them to impart useful camera techniques and tips to take your skills to the next level. Find more details of these free workshops below.

To coincide with the exhibition’s opening ceremony, a prize presentation for the ‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’ photography competition will be held on 30 July 2017 (Sunday) from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. During the procession, the top 3 finalists will be announced, along with 15 consolation prize winners.

Olympus, the main sponsor for the photography event, will be having a showcase of their latest Olympus equipment. Also present at Capitol Piazza are booths by Cathay Photo and OurShutterJourney for membership signups.

Admission into the ‘Snapshots Of A Little Red Dot’ photography exhibition is free.
