May the 4th be with you!
This year, Singapore is getting her very first Star Wars Run! Taking place on May 6, 2017, the run is part of the ‘May the 4th’ celebrations. Furthermore, it’s also the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope. To mark the occasion, a three-day extravaganza – STAR WARS – MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU Festival will be taking place at Gardens by the Bay from 4 to 6 May.
The run takes place on the last day of the festival and participants can choose between a 10km competitive route or a 4.5km fun run. The more important choice, however, is whether you want to join the Rebellion on the Light side or follow in Darth Vader’s footsteps on the Dark side. Runners will receive a set of limited-edition Star Wars memorabilia, depending on which side you pick. The routes are themed around the movies and are sure to thrill fans of the franchise. Expect light projections, music and plenty of photo opportunities.
There are also 4 medals, depending on which side you chose and which race you were in.
Chewbacca and Kylo Ren will be flagging off the run, so it’s time to see if you can run as fast as a Wookiee! After the run, runners with their bibs will be able to gain access to exclusive meet and greet zones at The Meadow, so you can grab a picture with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren (although that’s a pretty odd couple).
The night doesn’t just end with the run – there are plenty of Star Wars themed activities at the Race Village, as well as an outdoor screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The run takes place on May 6, 7pm, at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Registration closes on 17 April and slots are selling out fast! Register here, or check out the website for more information here.
See you there! Till then, I’m going to be training like I’m Luke on Dagobah.
