Reunion Dinner is a time for the family to gather and everyone to see each other. My favourite steamboat delicacies include fish balls meat balls and sotong paste!
I like reunion dinner because it is a special time of the year for the whole family to meet up and have dinner together before Chinese New Year. Love to have steamboat can add in my favourite CP shrimp wanton! Also like add in quail eggs and cabbage!
The reunion dinner is a time for the family to see everyone and chat about the past year and enjoy great food together too! I love pork, beef and chicken fillet, golden mushrooms as well as fish glue!

My favourite steamboat delicacies are shrimp wonton, ginger duck hot pot 薑母鴨鍋, Taiwanese Style Lamb Stew 台灣羊肉爐, Chilled Tofu 冻豆腐, Home made soft fried bean curd skin 自制豆泡, Handmade Balls 手工丸滑类, and Mutton slices 羊肉卷.
Reunion Dinner means every single member get together to enjoy a good meal , catch up on life as most of us are married . The kiddos get to play together . And finally a good chance to take a happy 3 generation family photo .

Reunion dinner to me is an very important meal, a crucial gathering for the entire family members to find a good time to sit down and enjoy a wonderful feast with all loved ones. A must have meal with lots of delicacies and ample of ingredients that make up a successful steamboat. It is a traditional for all Chinese, regardless of nationalities, in the whole world to have a huge celebrate for Reunion dinner 团圆饭, it symbolizes 团圆 (Tuan Yuan), which means every family member gather around in circle on the dining table, referring as everything is Smooth and Blissful in Chinese's saying. This is a beautiful saying as a good blessing for the family members on this reunion day.
My fave steamboat delicacies are normal hotdogs and CP Shrimp dumplings because the taste is heavenly and the prawns are very succulent & fresh. Every bite is crunchy even when boiled in the soup for quite some time. In fact, I just had CP Shrimp dumplings last night when I was cooking instant noodles, they act as a quick and easy to cook ingredients. Anyway I have stocked up 2 boxes of CP Shrimp dumplings and 2 boxes of Chicken Gyoza with Suki Sauce so I can treat my relatives and guests when they pop over for CNY visits, these treats serve as CNY food goodies too. Just for your info, Gyoza is 炸饺子 (Fried Dumpling), which means 元宝 (Gold Ingots). This is referred to when you have eaten the dumplings, it meant you will be rich in a sense in Chinese's saying. Therefore having more of these CP Gyoza for my guests during CNY will be just perfect too!!!!

My 15 siblings and their family are scatter all over the island and some live aboard. Chinese New Year is the same time that the entire family gets back together and reunion dinner is precisely the celebration of our reunion thus is especially meaningful to us and it is what makes our 90 year old mother most happy about.
Being Peranakan, our food is distinctively heavier and stronger in taste but I personally like the wholesomeness of a steamboat and especially love to have CP wanton in my bowl smile emoticon
Reunion dinner meant everyone gather altogether young and old, over a big round table enjoy all type of foods, usually we have steamboat, steam rabbit fish, braised abalone with mushroom, quailegg, fishball, button mushroom, crab meat, even chilli crab. Happily indulge with feast
