Following the successful inaugural launch of Dilmah Seasonal Flush teas at W Singapore’s W T Time Drop the T ² last year, Dilmah and W Singapore return to present a refreshed W T Time set with two exotic Dilmah Seasonal Flush teas – the Craighead Estate Fine Silver Tips and Opata Estate Flower Broken Orange Pekoe 1 (FBOP 1):

Featuring ten modern interpretations of sweets and savoury delights, guests can choose to savour these delights with the aromatic bouquet of fragrant citrus and sweet fruit notes from the Craighead Estate Fine Silver Tips or the delicate amber liquor with notes of stewed fruit, malt and herbs from the Opata Estate FBOP1.

“The Dilmah Seasonal Flush teas are some of our finest that marry the beauty of Mother Nature’s miracle in harmony with our artisanal and traditional tea manufacturing process. To ensure we only choose the finest, we carefully monitor the weather patterns, taste and assess the tea’s strength, flavour, aroma and appearance, before selecting the best for Dilmah. This year’s Seasonal Flush teas will entice even the most discerning of palates,” said Dilhan Fernando, Director of Marketing at Dilmah, and son of Dilmah founder Merrill J. Fernando.

Commenting on the partnership with Dilmah, Matthew Woolford, Director of Culinary, W Singapore and Brand Champion of Starwood Asia Pacific F&B Council said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Dilmah once again to present W T Time Drop the T². The new W T Time set is designed to integrate flavours from the limited edition teas into culinary recipes and introduce another whole new world of sensations and flavours to gourmands and tea connoisseurs when they dine at WOOBAR.”

“In addition, we have expanded this partnership and W T Time experience to all the W Hotels in the Asia Pacific region. The partnership emphasises both Dilmah’s and W Hotel’s similar philosophy that bespoke beverages can precede food in gastronomy,” he added.

I had the rare opportunity to meet both Fernando and Woolford during a media preview of the refreshed W T Time.

From Fernando, I learn that the right way to savour good tea is to slurp them loudly in a big gulp rather than taking small sips. With one big gulp, the full aroma and flavours of the tea will trigger all your senses from your nose to your palate.

The Silver Tips is a lighter tea that is sweet and with a citrus note. The FBOP 1 on the other hand is stronger, darker in colour and with stronger texture. I noticed females tend to prefer the Silver Tips while males will go for the FBOP 1.

The accompanying sweet and savoury delights for W T Time are served in a whimsical bird cage:

Guests can indulge in these exquisite tea-infused culinary creations while watching the spectacular sunset over the yacht marina before closing out the evening with Dilmah Seasonal Flush teas at WOOBAR.

The tea time complements are mouth-watering good and are culinary art pieces themselves. Some were so beautiful I feel guilty sinking my teeth into them. My favourites include the Chocolate Foie Gras Ganache with Port Wine and Gold Leaf, the two sushi-looking items and of course, the two Dilmah seasonal tea infused items.

The Craighead Estate Fine Silver Tips and Opata Estate FBOP 1 teas are produced globally in a limited quantity of 300 and 600 tins respectively and are also available on Dilmah’s online tea boutique. Each Dilmah Seasonal Flush tea is presented in a personalised silver tin caddy, numbered and signed by Dilmah Tea Taster, Gunasiri.

For tea connoisseurs and enthusiasts, the W T Time is a wonderful excuse to indulge and pamper oneself, together with a group of friends or loved ones over an exquisite high tea session.

Dilmah Seasonal Flush: Craighead Estate Fine Silver Tips

Nestled in the picturesque Nawalapitiya region, 3,500 feet above sea level, Craighead Estate produces the rare and exceptional Silver Tips. It embodies springtime with its fragrant citrus, sweet fruit notes and offers tastes of honey, grapes, green apple and olive. This tea is handmade, from the pure bud of a special cultivar of the tea plant, and grown in a small field that produces its unique citrus notes. It is silvery in appearance and yields a liquor that is magnificent amongst white teas.

Dilmah Seasonal Flush: Opata Estate FBOP 1 (Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe 1)

This limited issue FBOP1 grade of tea is made using only the first dhool from the rollers, capturing the enigma of the Peak Wilderness forest that borders the Opata Estate and the fleeting natural elements of the seasonal quality. The black, curled leaf with silvery highlights produces a delicate amber liquor with notes of stewed fruit, malt and herbs. Bright and elegant, with body and texture, the Opata Estate FBOP1 is truly an extraordinary tea. Dilmah Tea is the first international tea brand to be owned by a producer and to be picked, perfected and packed at source, right where it is grown. The brand’s commitment to tea that is garden fresh is linked to the reality that fresh tea is richer in flavour, aroma, health benefits and enjoyment.
