If you do not have any programs for the May Day public holiday tomorrow, fret not, here are some suggestions for self-amusement while we celebrate the achievements of workers globally:
1. Like our Singapore Labour Chief, Lim Swee Say’s Facebook Page and drop a note to thank him if you think he had done a good job in representing all Singapore workers.
2. Head down to the local bookshop and stock up on a few copies of Dilbert to read at home and laugh at white collar workers.
3. Rent some labour themed movies online. Recommended titles: The Internship (2013), Just Follow Law 我在政府部门的日子 (2007), The Pursuit of Happiness (2006), Fun with Dick and Jane (2005) and Capitalism: A Love Story (2009).
4. Watch North Korean motivational videos on youtube to learn what is true labour dedication. Here are a few samples:
5. Join the Singapore National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) as a union member. Perks are touted to include career protection, networking opportunities and discounts at NTUC FairPrice.
