Conveniently located just outside Outram Park MRT station (NEL exit), within the CBD enclave, Roosevelt’s Diner & Bar is a newly opened cafe-bar that offers casual dining options in a cosy environment. It reminds me of an updated version of the fictitious Central Perk cafe which the characters in the hit 90s sitcom, Friends like to hang out at:

Roosevelt’s menu has strong American influences, featuring comfort food items like milkshakes, burgers and Mac & Cheese. They also also offer an all-day breakfast selection and items for children to cater for the family crowd.

Roosevelt has a wide coffee and tea selection, with an onsite barrister. In addition, there is an extensive wine list for those looking to chill out at the bar.

What I like – simple, unpretentious comfort food, to be enjoyed in a cosy, relaxed environment. The staff are attentive and friendly. They have won over some regulars. I saw two well-dressed gentlemen came in and set up a chess game, exchanging friendly banters with the staff before ordering some wine to savour over a game. This was mid-noon. Shortly, a young girl came in, ordered a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, all the while engrossed in reading a manga she brought along.

I will recommend Roosevelt for large group friends gatherings and as a hangout place for those working in the CBD or living near the vicinity.

There were some controversies over their coffee allegedly said to be as bad as “horse piss”. Tried the latte, it was okay. Not the best, but definitely not the worst either. Don’t take my words for it. Go try it yourself and share your comments.
