Congratulations to Workers’ Party Lee Li Lian (16,038 votes or 54.52%) in winning the Punggol East By-Election by over 10% more votes than the next best candidate, People’s Action Party’s Dr Koh Poh Koon (12,856 votes or 43.71%).
Why such a big drop in votes for the PAP?
I can only think of this answer:
“Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!”
PAP: NO to 7 million population please. Do you hear us finally?
On another note, isn’t it amazing how the Reform Party’s Kenneth Jeyaretnam and Singapore Democratic Alliance’s Desmond Lim Bak Chuan managed to poll less votes than votes that went to the dustbin?:
