A famous ramen chain restaurant in Tokyo, Marukin Ramen is known for its slow-cooked homemade soup as well as the use of a springy noodles made by their in-house noodle factory.
Marukin Ramen chain restaurants now fronts a total of 12 outlets in Japan, Shanghai and Singapore. The outlet at Scotts Square is its first in Singapore.
The restaurant here is helmed by 36 year-old Chef Tetsuya Tsuyuki. The experienced chef with a total of 11 years of culinary expertise under his belt is also the key link responsible for the training of the kitchen staff and thus the expansion of Marukin Ramen in Tokyo and Shanghai.
Residing in the basement of the newly launched luxury apartment cum shopping mall in Orchard, Marukin Ramen enjoys a brisk lunch crowd, drawing from nearby offices residents and shoppers.
I was invited for a tasting session and tried the following dishes:
Literally meaning ‘Dipping Noodles’, this fun cold thick ramen noodle dish is served with Chicken Chaysu, Nitamago, Kikurage Mushrooms, Green Onions and Sesame with Marukin Ramen’s famed warm dipping sauce on the side.
This was my favourite ramen at Marukin and I will order it again next time.
This hearty bowl of ramen offering that features all of the house specials such as the succulent slices of Chicken Chasyu, Chicken meat balls, a piece of Chicken wing, Shrimp wanton, Nitamago, Kikurage mushrooms, Green Onions, a piece of freshly toasted Nori seaweed and a light dash of sesame seeds.
Great for big eater who wants to try a bit of everything.
A veggie delight, this popular selection offers Wakame Seaweed and Corn atop a bowl of ultrathin ramen noodles with Kirurage Mushrooms, Green Onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
A sumptuous bowl of thick egg ramen noodles with Japanese Leek, Kirurage Mushrooms, completely covered with a generous amount of Green Onions.
I like the simple, fuss-free environment at the restaurant. Prices are also reasonable for quality ramen in a generally expensive area.
Special Promotions:
For the month of August, all you have to do is say “Marukin Ramen! OISHII!” when you order a main and you get a FREE side of the Deep Fried Vegetables in Dashi Broth!
