Here’s a value-for-money seafood restaurant for crab and seafood lovers – Uncle Leong Seafood!
First established in a neighbourhood coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio estate, Uncle Leong Seafood has now expanded into two full-fledged restaurants located in Toa Payoh in Punggol End.
“Shimmering Sand Crab delight” is their signature dish. The dish features a larger than average-sized crab drizzled with Uncle Leong’s signature sauce and topped with a sprinkling of oats. Other must-try dishes are their “Crab Bee Hoon” and “deep-fried brinjal strips”, both crowd-pleasers.
The shimmering crab dish is really a hybrid of the usual butter crab served in other local seafood restaurants, but with generous heaps of curry leaves and oat flakes. It tastes very good and is a must-try at the restaurant.
The crabs served at Uncle Leong’s are all really huge and succulent. We ordered two crabs to share among 6 adults and still had some left over to pack home.
The total bill came to around S$200 for 6 adults – that’s around $30+ per pax for a quality seafood dinner. I find it pretty reasonable.
