On the fourth night of my Sydney escapade with HTC EVO 3D, hosted by Destination New South Wales, Eunice, Duglass, and I had dinner at Saké Restaurant & Bar at The Rocks.
The restaurant serves contemporary Japanese cuisine created by up-and-rising superstar sushi chef, Shaun Presland. The menu boasts a mix of new-style sushi and classic dishes.
The restaurant’s interior decor by Luchetti Krelle Design is a marvel itself, edgy and contemporary, in stark contrast with the heritage-listed building in historic Argyle Precinct where it is located. The spacious 240-seater restaurant is split into several areas to cater to solo diners, couples and groups of different sizes.
As one would have guessed from the restaurant’s name, one of it’s key selling point is their wide and quality selection of Japanese rice wine. In fact, it has one of the largest selections of sake in Australia sourced exclusively from the boutique, 300-year-old family-owned Kozaemon brewery.
The restaurant was buzzing with life when we arrived and I believe it is always so, after my lovely dining experience at Saké.
Japanese food are small in portions, making it ideal for the three of us to order many different dishes to share. I was thrilled to see Wagyu beef teriyaki on the menu at just AUD$39 – considered quite a steal in Singapore at an equivalent fine dining establishment.

Even if you are not much of a foodie, you can hit the bar at Saké for a drink or two. This place is good for people watching and the ambient as well as chic decor of the restaurant itself is worth the visit. 🙂
