Last Saturday (17 Sep), I attended the film premiere of ECHOING LOVE, screened as one of the selections for the 24th Singapore International Film.
The film is a compilation of shorts by ordinary Singaporeans, revolving around the theme of “LOVE”. It is the brainchild of veteran media personnel, Edmund Chen (陈之财) who pulled a lot of strings to get industry players, sponsors and partners to come together. He was present at the premiere with the entire cast and crew to greet everyone.
The film is the end product of Edmund’s Mission Easy project which seeks to help ordinary Singaporeans fulfill their dream of making films, whether as a director, scriptwriter or actor. From the many entries submitted, the best six were selected and produced by Edmund himself into the compilation of shorts that make up ECHOING LOVE.
omy.sg is a media partner for Mission Easy (which was how I got acquainted with Edmund), a meaningful project contributing towards building the local media industry for the future.
A lot of local media personnel and celebrities were roped into the film by Edmund, including Xiang Yun, Vincent Ng, Alaric Tay, Ericia Lee and Nat Ho among others. Check out the film trailer and interview below:

For films like ECHOING LOVE where many individuals are involved in the production, this is usually the surefire path to failure as frequently, too many cooks spoil the soup. Surprisingly, first-time film producer, Edmund and his cast and crew did a great job piecing the bits and pieces together for a coherent and heartwarming piece. This is no easy feat and my hat really goes off to Edmund for all the work he had put into this project.
