Rachel and I chanced upon this small Thai eatery, The Basil Inn, when we were roaming around Downtown East last Christmas.
We decided to give it a try, seeing that the place was relatively packed, despite the limited tables and serving staff. It is unlikely to go wrong when you follow where the crowd is when choosing where to eat.
The menu offers an array of standard Thai hawker fares. We ordered a Tom Yam soup and a beef kway tiao to share.
Prices were really reasonable and came to around $15 for 2 pax, with no GST and service charge. The restaurant seem a little short-handed though, with only two serving staff.
I am not complaining though as the food was good. Authentic Thai hawker fares,; quite like the ones we eat at off the street of Bangkok.
This place is highly recommended for those living in the east, looking for a reasonably priced Thai restaurant with quality fares. It is not suitable for large group dining or for long chit chat sessions due to the restaurant size and limited tables.
