Today, omy.sg launched a new web portal together with Business China at Dragonfly, St. James Power Station. The event was graced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Other than the launch of CLing (http://cling.omy.sg), there was a youth forum held earlier to discuss on Chinese pop culture. Panelists for the forum were (许环良) Billy Koh, (李偲菘) Li Shih Song, (小寒) Xiaohan and (陈迪雅) Chen Diya.
I am in the organising committee for this event. Here are some photos I took to share with everyone:
Do go visit http://cling.omy.sg to take a look if you are interested in learning Chinese and understanding modern China. My editorial colleagues in omy.sg put a lot of effort into it. If you have any feedback or comments, feel free to drop a comment in the forum section. 🙂

Fun with CLing – a new web portal to learn Chinese and understand modern China
Singapore, 18 July 2009 — “CLing”, a new Chinese-learning media platform jointly presented by Business China and omy.sg, is launched by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today at Dragonfly, St James Power Station.
“CLing” is a Chinese web portal which exposes young Singaporeans to modern China and help them learn Chinese through fun and interesting ways. The website consists of eight distinctive features – Good Read, Quiz Game, Daily C, Celebrities Talk, Chit Chat, Blog, Songbook and Useful links.
At the launch, Prime Minister Lee participated in the “CLing” challenge where he was asked three questions related to Chinese language and modern China. He also shared his experiences on learning Chinese with 300 participants from schools, tertiary institutions, as well as young working adults who attended the event.
Mr Chua Thian Poh, Chairman of Business China, said: “Business China strives to encourage the youths to deepen their knowledge in China’s economic, business, social and cultural and educational aspects. And we stimulate their interest towards China through various activities and platforms. We hope the youths will fully leverage on the new media platform set by Business China and omy.sg ‘CLing’ in their quest about modern China.”
Mr Robin Hu, Senior Executive Vice President of Chinese Newspapers Division and Newspaper Services Division, SPH, said: “It is important to pass on our Chinese heritage, language and culture to the next generation of Chinese Singaporean. ‘CLing’ plays an important role of reaching out to young Singaporeans via an interactive, new media platform they are familiar with. omy.sg is honoured to collaborate with Business China on such a meaningful project.”
A pre-launch quiz game was held from 2 to 15 July to promote the launch of “CLing”. The game, which tested participants on their knowledge of the Chinese language, culture and developments in China, was played nearly 35,000 times and attracted over 182,000 page impressions in just two weeks.
In conjunction with the launch of “CLing”, a Youth Forum was held, featuring four personalities from the local music industry, namely composer Billy Koh, lyricist Xiao Han, composer cum producer Lee Shih Song and singer Chen Diya. (Particulars of the Forum panelists are listed in Annex 2).
The four panelists spoke on the topic, “Beyond the Little Red Dot: Music Making for the Chinese Market”. They also interacted with participants on how Singaporean musicians and artistes are making inroads into China. Guests at the launch were also treated to a “CLing” mocktail, which was specially concocted by Dragonfly for this event.
