Alvinology is DOWN!

For some inexplicable reasons, the photos on this blog are no longer loading since three days ago… I guess I have to stop blogging for the time being till the problem is fixed since a motto of this blog is to include at least one photo or video in every single entry.

This must be the first 100 percent pure text-based entry in this blog. 🙁

Any kind soul can help or give me some advices?

Email me at [email protected] or just leave a comment below.

Thank you very much!

My photos are all uploaded on my Flickr account and embedded here via the WordPress CMS. The photos are loading fine on my mirror blog hosted on omy.sg though. They are embedded the same way. I have not made any changes to this blog in the past three days.

  1. Look like it still cannot load picture fully when i clicked on the link to your previous blog entries or previous entris 🙁

  2. Yup, it’s still down. I emailed both flickr and wordpress support, but nothing is done yet from either side. Spent a lot of time putting up all these images…. very upset now.

Maybe it’s a sign for me to stop blogging.

  3. oh wait, i think i know what’s the problem now.

maybe you should try upgrading to PRO account, i guess it’s your bandwidth that’s limited.

i have a pro account, damn cheap, and at least you get to see your oldest photos.

  4. I got a reply from Flickr:

    Hi Alvin

I just saw your Forum post.

Actually, the other members are correct in regards to the Community Guidelines. I actually sent a Terms of Service/Community Guidelines message to you in January:

    Subject: Flickr Terms of Service

    Hi astroitsmylife,

In joining Flickr, you agreed to abide by the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

    flickr.com/guidelines.gne

    From the Community Guidelines:

Do link back to Flickr when you post your Flickr content elsewhere.
The Flickr service makes it possible to post content hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.

Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours.
This includes other people’s photos, video and/or stuff you’ve collected from around the Internet. Accounts that consist primarily of such collections may be terminated at any time.

    Regards,

    Kevin C

  5. How ah… would it help if I upgrade to a Flickr PRO account? IF not, I have to relink over 10,000 photos on this blog!

Like that might as well stop blogging already lah.

  6. i suppose that all photo u’ve linked, are not linked back to flickr?

i guess maybe u should hire some highly trained monkeys to help u link.

i can view some of ur photos, it loads when i use Cooliris plug-in on Firefox.

i got some photos on my blog which i don’t link back to flickr, but still works, i guess u can try linking just 1 photo back to flickr, maybe it will bring back everything to normal

  7. hey, i think if flickr really block you acc, i suggest u to relink all your photos and shift over to photobucket instead.. that’s wat i’m using since i started blogging..

luckily nothing went wrong from there .. haha..

  8. whoa.. now i know how jialat it is now.. didn’t know it even talked to you just now… wakao.. relink 10,000 photos then mah better suicide >.<

also .. alvin, go back to that forum and read the follow-up … they said upgrading to Flickr Pro will not help in the situation.. you still need to redo all your links again… sienzzz…

hmm… how do you plan to relink?? actually there’s a very nice plug-in to check and amend all the broken links in wordpress.org but you need a self-hosted blog to install it … then move all your photos to photobucket and change your link to there… …

    that’s a way i can think now.. =(
