In a sudden turn of events, another website has been set up to debate on Section 377A. As opposed to repeal377A.com, keep377A.com is lobbying for signatures to keep 377A (what else?). I have blogged about the first website previously HERE.
I think this is a good development for free speech here in Singapore. If you disagree, argue back. If you feel strongly against repealing 377A, go ahead and sign this other open letter to the Prime Minister in support of retention. This is better than sitting on the fence and not doing anything as it will not contribute to social changes or for the betterment of everyone.
Having a slanted opinion is better than having NO OPINION.
From the number of signatures currently gathered by both side – it seems Singapore is more conservative than I thought as more people are in favour of retention. Either that or our social environment is still not conducive to speak out for something devious from social norms. (Being openly gay is still considered a devious behaviour in many cultures here)
What’s 377A?
The Penal Code of Singapore, in Section 377A, provides for a jail sentence for up to two years should a man be found to have committed an act of “gross indecency” with another man.
A few weeks earlier, a website, repeal377A.com has been established to help Singaporeans gather information, debate the issue and act towards change for the good of all Singaporeans regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.

I love n respect those who choose to be homosexual(gays n lesbians). I had a gay person as a friend till he migrated to another country n we lost contact.
With my deep respects for the gay community I love their friendship but cannot condone their lifestyles n will add may voice against repealing 377A if it comes up for a vote again.
