Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has launched PADI Discover Snorkelling at Singapore Oceanarium, offering visitors aged 10 and above the opportunity to snorkel alongside manta rays, sharks and schools of fish without requiring prior swimming, snorkelling or diving experience.
The 90-minute programme takes place at Singapore Oceanarium’s Open Ocean Habitat and is designed as an accessible introduction to marine life and underwater exploration. Priced at S$109 per person, the experience includes a one-day admission ticket to Singapore Oceanarium.
The launch follows the enhancement of the Singapore Oceanarium PADI Dive Centre, which has received PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Dive Resort accreditation. PADI, or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is an international organisation that trains and certifies recreational divers and diving professionals.
The 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort designation recognises dive centres that meet established standards in training, education, safety and professional development. At Singapore Oceanarium, visitors can begin with introductory snorkelling experiences before progressing to scuba diving courses and internationally recognised qualifications.
PADI Discover Snorkelling combines basic snorkelling skills with learning about marine ecosystems and ocean conservation. Participants can observe marine animals from the surface of the Open Ocean Habitat while becoming more familiar with the underwater environment. The programme is suitable for beginners, families and ocean enthusiasts looking for their first guided snorkelling experience.
Beyond the new offering, Singapore Oceanarium provides a range of dive programmes for visitors with different levels of experience. Certified divers can join the guided Open Ocean Dive and Shark Dive experiences, which offer encounters with marine life in the Open Ocean and Shark Seas habitats.
Beginners interested in scuba diving can take part in PADI Discover Scuba Diving, an introductory programme conducted in a small group setting. Those seeking formal qualifications can enrol in the PADI Open Water Diver Course, which supports participants working towards internationally recognised diving certification.
For certified divers looking to expand their knowledge, the PADI AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty Course combines practical diving with lessons in shark conservation. PADI ReActivate is also available for divers who want to refresh their skills and rebuild their confidence before returning to the water.
With the introduction of PADI Discover Snorkelling and its expanded dive centre facilities, Singapore Oceanarium aims to provide a pathway for visitors to progress from surface level marine encounters to more advanced diving experiences. The programmes combine structured instruction, opportunities to observe marine life and conservation focused learning at a single destination.
