The refurbishment represents a major step in the airline’s wider cabin transformation programme. The A380 has been redesigned from nose to tail, with new seats across every cabin, updated interiors and improvements to various onboard spaces, including galleys and stairways.

The first completed A380 is expected to enter service in the coming months. Customers travelling in Club World business class, World Traveller Plus premium economy and World Traveller economy will receive brand-new seats, while the airline’s herringbone design language will feature throughout the aircraft.

The refreshed interiors build on a design concept introduced across British Airways’ short-haul fleet in 2024 and now being extended to its long-haul aircraft.

In World Traveller, passengers will receive larger entertainment screens, wider seats and upgraded bedding. New pillows feature a contemporary herringbone pattern and additional filling, while plush blankets in the airline’s signature blue with red Speedmarque detailing are designed to provide additional warmth and comfort.

World Traveller Plus customers will receive larger entertainment screens, privacy wings and new bedding and pillows. A new reusable amenity kit designed as a tote bag will also be provided, featuring Dr.PAWPAW moisturising balm alongside travel essentials such as a dental kit, socks and an eye mask.

The refurbished A380 will feature an updated version of British Airways’ Club Suite business class product, with a contemporary colour palette inspired by the airline’s blue, red and cream accents. The suite has been redesigned based on customer feedback, with additional storage and improved functionality.

The aircraft will have 106 Club Suite seats across its full upper deck, making it the world’s largest business class cabin, according to British Airways. The space will be divided into four cabin zones and include dedicated dwell areas, Club Kitchens and redesigned galley spaces.

Club World passengers will also receive the airline’s latest amenity kits, available in four designs created by British artists through art platform Rise Art. The kits will contain products from British wellness brand anatomē.

At the top end of the aircraft, the new First suite is designed to provide greater privacy and comfort while creating the feel of a modern luxury hotel. The seat was developed with designers and manufacturers from Great Britain and Ireland, with British-inspired touches incorporated into the cabin.

Centre seats can be configured for passengers travelling together, with a divider that opens to create a shared space. Stowable tables also allow passengers to enjoy what British Airways describes as “buddy dining” with their travel companion.

British Airways has partnered with British heritage house Swaine to create a bespoke unisex First amenity kit inspired by the suitcases used by early air travellers. Available from 6 October, the kit comes in royal blue and cream and contains skincare products from Wildsmith, including its Circadian Rhythm collection.

The skincare selection includes face mist, hand and body lotion, ceramide multi-balm, lip balm, face cream and an overnight mask designed to support hydration and comfort at altitude.

The First cabin will also receive new sleep amenities. A woven herringbone day blanket will be paired with a navy blue cushion, while new navy sleepwear featuring British Airways’ bespoke tartan will be available with slippers from 1 October.

For overnight flights, cabin crew will prepare First suites with a luxury mattress, lightweight cotton duvet and newly designed pillow, with the setup intended to provide a more comfortable sleeping environment at cruising altitude.

British Airways is also introducing an updated First dining experience across its entire long-haul fleet from 1 October. The refreshed menu features fresh flavours and British produce, including a new “From the Grill” concept that allows customers to choose from premium proteins such as British roast rack of lamb and grilled salmon, alongside sides and sauces. Signature Mains will also be available.

A bespoke mini bar integrated into the First seat will provide access to refreshments including premium snacks and still and sparkling water.

The dining service will feature contemporary stoneware and fine bone china, alongside a beverage menu featuring premium Champagne such as Bollinger La Grande Année. Customers can also choose from a selection of gin serves, including Classic Gin Tonic, Rosemary & Orange, Spanish Flair and a 0.0% Gin & Tonic, as well as Showerings triple vintage cider.

Other details include cutlery designed by Studio William and wine glasses developed with Richard Brendon and wine expert Jancis Robinson. British Airways Speedmarque serving pieces and interactive dining elements will also feature throughout the service.

The cabin changes are being supported by an updated First Service Specialist training programme for First trained cabin crew. The programme is designed to help crew provide more personalised service based on individual passenger preferences while maintaining the attentive hospitality associated with the First cabin.

The investment extends beyond the aircraft. British Airways has also unveiled the next stage of its Heathrow lounge transformation, with plans to redesign every Heathrow lounge over the coming years. The airline is also investing in new aircraft, technology and operational improvements as part of its broader customer experience programme.

The new World Traveller Plus amenity kit and bedding, along with refreshed World Traveller bedding, will be introduced across the long-haul fleet on a phased basis throughout November.

First sleepwear and bedding, including the new day blanket, will be available on outbound long-haul flights from London Heathrow from 1 October, followed by the First amenity kit from 6 October. The First amenities will subsequently be introduced on inbound services over the following months.
