The Singapore Tennis Open (STO) is set to return from 21 to 27 September 2026 as an upgraded WTA 500 tournament, making it Southeast Asia’s only event at this prestigious tier. Taking place at the OCBC Arena at The Kallang, the tournament follows its successful debut as a WTA 250 event last year and will now serve as the opening tournament of the WTA’s Asian Swing.
The elevation to WTA 500 status places Singapore among an exclusive group of just 18 tournaments worldwide at this level, joining renowned events in cities such as Brisbane and Charleston. The upgraded tournament brings significantly higher-ranking points and prize money, further strengthening Singapore’s position on the global women’s tennis calendar and raising the level of competition expected on court.
As one of the opening stops of the WTA’s Asian Swing, the Singapore Tennis Open plays an important role during the latter half of the season, when players compete for valuable points as they build momentum towards the year end championships. Organisers expect a strong international player field, with additional player announcements to be made in the coming months.
Among the confirmed players is Alexandra Eala, currently ranked World No. 32 and the highest ranked Filipino player in WTA history. Eala enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, becoming the first player from the Philippines to reach the semifinals of a WTA 1000 tournament and the first Filipino to advance to the round of 16 at the US Open. She returns to Singapore looking to continue her impressive rise on the international stage.
Tickets for the tournament are now on sale, with a limited time early bird promotion offering 10 per cent off passes and selected standard ticket categories. The promotion will run for four weeks before regular pricing takes effect from 27 July at 2pm Singapore time.
The tournament aims to remain accessible to fans of all ages and experience levels. Single session tickets start from just S$8, making it easy for newcomers to experience live professional tennis. Fans looking for an enhanced experience can purchase hospitality packages from S$500, while all access passes covering the full tournament start from S$650.
The 2026 edition has also attracted an impressive lineup of global sponsors. Mercedes-Benz joins as the Official Automobile Partner, extending its global partnership with the WTA to Singapore. The company will provide premium transportation for players, officials and selected guests, while also showcasing its latest vehicle lineup, including electric models, through on-site displays and hospitality experiences.
ASICS has been named the Official Apparel and Footwear Partner and will provide performance apparel and footwear for ball kids, officials and event staff throughout the tournament.
Fans can expect a week of world class tennis featuring a 28 player singles draw and a 16 team doubles draw competing for a prize pool of approximately US$1.2 million. The action begins with qualifying matches on 19 and 20 September before the main draw takes place from 21 to 27 September, bringing some of the world’s top women’s tennis players to Singapore.
