Grab and WeRide Bring Free Self-Driving Shuttle Rides to Punggol With Ai.R Service

Residents and visitors in Punggol can now experience Singapore’s first autonomous vehicle passenger service in a residential estate for free, as Grab partners with WeRide to operate Ai.R, short for Autonomously Intelligent Ride. The service offers the public a chance to ride in self-driving shuttles while exploring how autonomous technology can support a more connected and sustainable transport system.

To date, Ai.R has completed more than 4,000 rides and achieved over 50,000km of autonomous driving mileage, marking a significant milestone in Singapore’s ongoing smart mobility efforts.

The free shuttle service allows passengers to try out autonomous travel in a real-world environment. Interested users can reserve a ride slot at Ai.R Reservations.

To encourage more visitors to explore Punggol, Grab is also introducing a series of limited time perks throughout June. After completing an Ai.R ride, passengers will receive a S$5 voucher for participating Punggol Dine Out Deals merchants. The vouchers are available from 2 June 2026 on a while stocks last basis and are limited to one redemption per Grab account. They can also be stacked with existing Dine Out Deal offers on the Grab app. Riders can collect the voucher from on-site ambassadors after their trip.

In addition, passengers can enjoy a 10 percent discount on Grab rides within Punggol or for trips departing from Punggol to anywhere in Singapore. The discount is capped at S$3 per ride and can be activated using the code “HEARTLANDS”, available under the Offers tab from 1 to 30 June 2026.

The Ai.R experience is designed as a convenient and accessible way for the public to engage with autonomous mobility technology while also supporting local dining and travel within the heartlands.

Passenger safety guidelines are in place for all rides. Children under 1.35m in height are not permitted to ride without appropriate child restraints, and passengers travelling with children must bring their own child restraint systems and ensure proper use during the journey, as these are not provided onboard. Minors below 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 and above unless they are registered as a Teen Member under a Grab Family Account.
