Pure Childhood Magic for Adults Too
Somewhere between back-to-back meetings, endless notifications, and the general chaos of adulting, many of us probably forgot what it feels like to be genuinely amazed by something again.
That is exactly what Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, now showing at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands from 19 May to 14 June 2026, brings back- a couple of hours where you can fully lean into wonder, whimsy, and the gloriously wonky side of imagination.
Step into a fantasy world for an evening, complete with chocolate, surprises, music, nostalgia, and a reminder to IMAGINE and BELIEVE in better things to come.
The Magic Starts Before the Curtain Even Rises
The experience begins the moment you arrive.
Right outside the Sands theatre is a giant chocolate photo wall, created using 20 kilograms of chocolate paint by Singapore chocolatier Janice Wong.
You can literally grab and eat the chocolate lollipops from the wall!

This might be one of the few times in Singapore where touching the art installation is encouraged.
Everyone around me immediately turned into excited children taking photos and pointing at chocolate.

Not Just a Kids’ Show
If you are wondering whether this is mainly a children’s show, the answer is an absolute no. While it is definitely a fantastic family activity (recommended age: 6 and above), it is also a great activity choice for adult friend groups and even date nights.
The musical is whimsical and visually spectacular, with enough humour, sass, and clever modern references to keep adults thoroughly entertained throughout.

There was even a very unexpected Singapore reference from Willy Wonka himself that is sure to make any local smile!
Curious about it?
Not giving out any spoilers here, you will have to catch the play yourself!
About the Musical
The internationally acclaimed Broadway musical is making its first stop in Southeast Asia with its Singapore season at Sands Theatre.
Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory follows young Charlie Bucket after he discovers a coveted Golden Ticket and gains access to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory.
Expect chocolate rivers, nut-sorting squirrels, mischievous Oompa-Loompas, eye-popping visuals, and plenty of theatrical spectacle.

The production also features iconic songs from the classic 1971 film alongside original music by Grammy and Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, best known for Hairspray and Mary Poppins Returns. The Broadway production premiered in 2017 and ran for more than 300 performances, followed by a successful North American tour. The musical also enjoyed a major West End run in London, where it received two Olivier Awards.
Singapore-Exclusive Experiences
Singapore’s production goes beyond the musical itself with several themed experiences around Marina Bay Sands.
Wonka’s Surprise Golden Ticket Campaign
One of the biggest audience engagement activations staged for a musical in Singapore, the Golden Ticket campaign transforms every performance into a mini treasure hunt.

More than 8,000 Golden Tickets will be placed at selected theatre seats throughout the show’s run.
Prizes include experiences and rewards from brands including Klook, M·A·C Cosmetics, NARS, TADA, Clarins, Maison 21G and Jewel Changi Airport.
Wonka-Inspired Food and Desserts Around Marina Bay Sands
Several restaurants and dessert spots across Marina Bay Sands are offering exclusive Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-inspired treats during the musical’s run.
Among the highlights are:
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer
Charlie’s Chocolate Milkshake is a decadent nod to the wondrous world of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, where imagination turns every treat into an adventure. The sweet treat is topped with chocolate drizzle, whipped cream and crowned with Charlie’s Chocolate Bar.

KOMA Singapore
Chocolate River Magic is a sweet tribute to one of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY’s most iconic scenes — the mesmerising chocolate river that flows through Wonka’s fantastical factory. The dramatic Baked Alaska pairs vanilla matcha ice cream and a rich dark chocolate parfait, designed to captivate at first sight and delight with every bite.
Origin + Bloom
Origin + Bloom unveils whimsical creations of character-inspired pastries and desserts. Highlights include Blueberry Girl which playfully references Violet Beauregarde’s unforgettable transformation, while Willy’s Hat pays tribute to the enigmatic chocolatier himself.
