Registration Opens 28 April for Inaugural PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open

Singapore is set to reach a new milestone in its rapidly growing pickleball scene with the launch of the first-ever Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Asia 500-tier tournament on home soil this July.

Organised by Kin Productions, the PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open will take place from 23 to 26 July 2026 at The Sports Arina@Expo, bringing together amateur and professional players for one of the largest pickleball competitions ever staged in the region.

A landmark moment for Singapore pickleball

This inaugural edition marks the highest-tier professional pickleball event ever hosted in Singapore, underscoring the sport’s rising popularity and competitive development in the country.

The tournament will feature Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles, as well as Mixed Doubles, across both professional and amateur divisions.

The professional category will offer US$70,000 in prize money along with 500 PPA ranking points, while amateur players will compete for a total prize pool of up to S$12,000.

Registration opens 28 April

Player registration will open on 28 April 2026 via the PPA Tour Asia website, with participation open to all skill levels, from beginners and recreational club players to seasoned professionals.

Amateur divisions will be structured by both skill and age groups. Skill brackets include below 3.5 and 3.5 and above, while age categories span Under 18, 19+, 35+, and 50+.

Bridging grassroots and professional play

A key highlight of the tournament is its inclusive format, which allows amateur athletes to compete in the same venue and event structure as professional players, an approach that strengthens the pathway between grassroots participation and elite competition.

This pathway was first demonstrated through PickleSlam 2026 at Jurong Play Grounds, the maiden PPA Asia 125-sanctioned event, which served as a stepping stone toward higher-tier competition. Winners from the Pro divisions at that event have now secured qualification spots for the Singapore Open draw.

Singapore’s Charles Yong, who defeated Malaysia’s Timothy Foo in the Pro Men’s Singles final, reflected on the competitive intensity of the match, noting the high level of play and the challenge posed by rising regional talent.

Strengthening Singapore’s role in international sport

The PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open represents a significant step forward for pickleball in Singapore, further positioning the country as a key hub for international sporting events in Asia.
