Singapore’s only national marathon is stepping into a new chapter with the appointment of SG International Marathon Pte Ltd (SGIMPL) as the new event organiser. The race will also debut a refreshed identity, with BYD announced as title sponsor and adidas as presenting sponsor. Standard Chartered will serve as the Official Bank of the event.
All three sponsors will hold naming rights to specific race categories: the BYD Marathon, adidas Half Marathon, and Standard Chartered 10km. The BYD Marathon remains Southeast Asia’s only World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, while all other race categories are course-measured and certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. Key partners include Sport Singapore, the Singapore Tourism Board, and the Singapore Athletic Association.
Under SGIMPL’s leadership, the event will place strong emphasis on runner welfare and overall experience. The refreshed approach aims to transform the marathon into a national sporting highlight that runners anticipate annually, with greater focus on structured training programmes, community engagement, and a well-managed race environment.
As part of this evolution, the event will adopt a more holistic, year-round strategy to support participants beyond race weekend.
The BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by adidas will feature a three-day format from 4 to 6 December. The programme will begin with kids’ categories on Friday morning, followed by the 5km and 10km races on Friday evening. The half marathon will take place on Saturday morning, culminating in the full marathon on Sunday.
To further enhance the race experience, organisers will introduce a participant cap, limiting entries to 52,000 runners. Registration for the upcoming edition will open in April.
The partnership with BYD marks a significant milestone for the event. As Singapore’s leading car brand, BYD will feature prominently across the race weekend, with a comprehensive fleet of BYD and DENZA vehicles supporting key operations and touchpoints.
Meanwhile, adidas is deepening its involvement as the event’s first-ever presenting sponsor. The sportswear brand will launch an expanded range of Singapore-exclusive merchandise for race weekend, including head-to-toe apparel collections for men and women. Special colourways of the Adizero Boston 13 and Evo SL footwear will also be released for the event.
In addition, adidas will provide the official race t-shirt included in every participant’s race pack.
First held as a competitive race in 1982, Singapore’s national marathon has grown into an internationally recognised sporting event that attracts runners from around the world. The latest developments signal continued ambitions to strengthen its global profile while enhancing the experience for participants.
Further details about the upcoming edition of the BYD Singapore International Marathon presented by adidas will be announced in the coming months.
