Known globally as the largest Korean pizza chain, Pizza Maru is turning up the heat in Singapore by refreshing its menu with five brand new nine inch pizzas:
These new additions are headlined by two creations inspired by the fiercely popular Korean fire chicken or buldak flavour profile. We recently headed down to taste these new offerings alongside some of their signature dishes.
The foundation of any great pizza is its crust, and Pizza Maru differentiates themselves with their patented Green Tea Well Being Dough. This unique base is crafted through a ripening and fermenting process using a blend of green tea, chlorella, and twelve natural grains. The dough is proofed for over 24 hours at a very low temperature of one to three degrees Celsius. This long fermentation gives the dough ample time to develop, resulting in a complex flavour profile, an excellent crumb structure, and a base that is easier to digest.
During our visit, we tried the Kimchi Buldak pizza (.90). The topping features the signature spicy buldak chicken, complemented with kimchi, green chili for extra heat, then balanced with kimchi mustard for a tinge of sweetness. Do not get intimidated by the name and description. It is not as spicy as it seems and Pizza Maru made sure to take things down a notch so it can be enjoyed by everyone.
Next, we sampled the Kimchi Beef Bulgogi pizza (.90). It pairs tender beef bulgogi with tangy kimchi, mushrooms, and onions, all tied together with a sweet kimchi mustard. This leans more on the savoury side and packs less heat than the previous. Instead of having two buldak pizzas, this is a great alternative.
Beyond pizzas, Pizza Maru is widely celebrated for their Korean fried chicken. We sampled a half portion of the Onion Tartar fried chicken (.90). The crispy chicken is crowned with crunchy onion strips and a creamy tartar sauce, offering double the crunch and a delightful tanginess. It is incredibly addictive and a perfect companion to the fiery pizzas.
We also enjoyed the Rosé Risotto with Seafood (.90). This dish boasts a blend of tomato and cream sauce, mixed with a generous seafood medley.
To wash it all down, we had two of their sparkling ade fruit flavoured drinks, specifically the Fuji Apple & Lemon alongside the Yuzu Blue Lagoon (.90 each).
To celebrate these fiery new additions, you can take advantage of a fantastic launch promotion.
Throughout the month of April, Pizza Maru is offering a 20% discount on all five of their new pizzas.
Make sure to gather your friends and family to experience these exciting new flavours before the promotion ends.
