OTH Buka Puasa 2026 Brings Youth, Families and Community Together in Tampines

A spirit of warmth and togetherness filled Our Tampines Hub as members of the local community gathered to break fast together during the holy month of Ramadan.

The OTH Buka Puasa 2026 event brought together around 50 ComLink+ families and representatives from various places of worship for an evening of shared meals, conversations and new connections. Held at Arena@OTH, the gathering also saw about 20 youth volunteers from ITE College East’s Community Service Club and Temasek Polytechnic supporting the event.

Together, the evening reflected the values of compassion, solidarity and mutual support that lie at the heart of the Ramadan season.

Youth Volunteers Supporting Families

Earlier in the day, students from ITE College East’s Community Service Club accompanied ComLink+ families on a visit to purchase essential household items using complimentary $50 supermarket vouchers.

Beyond meeting practical needs, the activity created opportunities for meaningful interactions between the youths and families, allowing them to exchange stories and learn from one another. These simple moments helped build empathy and foster a stronger sense of community within Tampines.

Later that evening, the same group of volunteers continued their service at OTH Buka Puasa 2026, assisting with event coordination to ensure the programme ran smoothly. Two students from Temasek Polytechnic also stepped up as emcees for the evening, engaging attendees and guiding the programme.

Their involvement highlighted the growing role young people can play in contributing to a more caring and connected community.

Reflecting on the Meaning of Ramadan

The programme also featured a Ramadan reflection by Mr Fakhrudin Amin, Head of Youth and Community Development at Masjid Darul Ghufran.

During his sharing, he spoke about the significance of Ramadan and its core values of reflection, compassion and generosity, values that resonate strongly in community gatherings like the Buka Puasa event.

A Moment of Unity at Sunset

As dusk fell, attendees gathered to break their fast together, including beneficiaries, representatives from religious groups and community leaders.

Among those present were Masagos Zulkifli, David Neo, Koh Poh Koon, Baey Yam Keng, Charlene Chen, and Desmond Choo.

Participants shared bento meals for the breaking of fast, while beneficiaries also received festive goodie packs worth $120 as a gesture of care and appreciation.
