The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is set to commemorate a significant milestone in 2026 as its flagship event, Relay For Life (RFL), celebrates its 10th year in Singapore.
Bringing together cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers and partners, Relay For Life continues to stand as a powerful symbol of resilience, remembrance and hope within the cancer community.
A 15-Hour Overnight Relay Symbolising the Cancer Journey
At the heart of the event is a 15-hour overnight 100KM relay, representing the ongoing race faced by those affected by cancer. Participants take turns on the track throughout the night in a show of solidarity: honouring survivors, remembering loved ones lost and pledging to fight back against the disease.
Through Relay For Life, SCS aims to:
- Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer
- Remember loved ones lost to cancer
- Fight Back by supporting ongoing cancer advocacy and care
This year, the event targets 6,000 participants and seeks to raise S$1.3 million to fund vital SCS programmes and services that support patients and their families.
My Fight Back Challenge: Participate Anytime, Anywhere
Beyond the physical relay, RFL 2026 also includes the My Fight Back Challenge, a virtual option that allows participants to complete any activity of their choice at their own time. This flexible format ensures that more individuals can stand in solidarity with the cancer community, regardless of schedule or location.
Community Activities Open to the Public
Even those not taking part in the 100KM relay are encouraged to attend and show support. The event will feature a range of fringe activities designed to foster connection, reflection and awareness.
From 6pm onwards, members of the public can dedicate messages on remembrance bags in honour of the cancer community.
From 8pm, the Remembrance Garden will host intimate sharings and personal interactions with cancer survivors and caregivers, offering meaningful insights into their journeys.
Between 8pm and 10pm, attendees can catch a special two-hour student-led stage performance by Project Lavande, thoughtfully themed around the cancer journey.
Throughout the event, the Mammobus will also be on site, offering free or subsidised breast cancer screenings. Registration is required, and free screenings are available for first-time screeners only.
Organisers have noted that running tracks will be strictly reserved for registered and qualified relay participants to ensure safety and smooth event operations.
