Singapore Polytechnic’s Open House 2026 (SPOH26) promises to be its most interactive showcase yet, offering prospective students and visitors a first-hand look at how the institution is shaping future-ready talent. This year, SP goes beyond static displays, debuting Try-a-Skill booths at the SP Industry & Innovation (I&I) Showcase, where attendees can dive into hands-on engineering and creative challenges.
Highlights include the Stick ’Em Challenge, where participants use sticks, 3D-printed connectors, motors, and wireless controls to build dynamic structures. The challenge is developed by Hult Prize-winning co-founders whose startup delivers an affordable robotics kit that teaches children technology using chopsticks.
Other notable exhibits include Serich’s Second-Skin Moisturising Cream, a non-steroidal eczema solution suitable for sensitive skin, crafted with PETA-Approved and EWG-certified ingredients. Meanwhile, immersive storytelling takes center stage with The Paper Bride, a multiplayer VR horror escape room inspired by Chinese Ghost Weddings and Peranakan heritage, where teams navigate ornate chambers to uncover the fate of the fictional character Yu Niang.
SPOH26 also highlights SP’s efforts to align education with real-world needs. Diploma students from the School of Chemical & Life Sciences and SG60 celebrations have co-developed two new beverage flavours for Haus Brew, set to launch in early 2026. SP also formalised its partnership with Gourmet Supplies through a Memorandum of Understanding to drive innovation and curriculum relevance.
On the skills front, SP is deepening its focus on soft skills and data fluency. The Teamwork Framework, launched in AY23/24, objectively measures students’ collaboration skills over three years, awarding top performers a digital certificate upon graduation. The School of Mathematics and Science is now the School of Mathematical Sciences & Analytics (MSA), offering modules such as a Minor in Data and AI and specialist diplomas in advanced data science, reflecting SP’s commitment to data-driven learning for both students and adult learners.
The Media, Arts & Design School (MAD) will introduce Changemaker Scholarships, supporting students in Animation & Games (AG) and Experience & Product Design (XPD) to innovate and create impactful solutions. SP’s flagship Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent (SPOT) programme has also been enhanced, offering a second entry point in Year 2 for emerging leaders. SPOT nurtures cross-cultural networks, regional insights, and service-oriented leadership, equipping students to excel in both academic and social innovation spheres.
Entrepreneurial spirit takes center stage at SPOH26, with the highest number of active Business Essentials Through Action (BETA) businesses on display. All Year 1 students from the School of Business are participating, resulting in 60 student-run enterprises.
Standout projects include Esscentials, which transforms surplus food and imperfect fruits into eco-conscious fragrances for the home, and REVAMP, which upcycles denim into functional makeup pouches while collaborating with a community of individuals with special needs. The SPiNOFF Entrepreneurship Centre, SP’s incubator, provides students with resources, mentorship, and national platforms such as the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) to bring ideas to life. For the first time, visitors can engage directly with these student entrepreneurs and explore their innovations.
As SP’s School of Business gears up for its 40th anniversary in 2026, SPOH26 marks the beginning of a year-long celebration, reaffirming SP’s commitment to values-based education, innovation, and nurturing the next generation of industry-ready professionals.
