Hougang Mall marks AEI milestone with week-long “Unboxing the Fun, Unveiling the New” celebrations

Hougang Mall is kicking off 2026 on a high note with Unboxing the Fun, Unveiling the New, a week-long campaign running from 5 to 11 January 2026. The celebratory showcase marks the soft opening of the mall’s newly refreshed spaces at Basement 1 and Level 1, offering shoppers a first look at what’s new following the ongoing Asset Enhancement Initiative (AEI).

Since April 2025, Hougang Mall has been undergoing a phased revamp aimed at introducing a brighter ambience, expanded food and beverage options and an enhanced retail mix. Carefully carried out to keep the mall fully operational throughout the upgrading works, the AEI is slated for completion in September 2026. Once complete, the transformation will further strengthen Hougang Mall’s role as a vibrant retail destination within a growing transport and community hub.

What’s new at Basement 1 and Level 1

Shoppers can now explore a refreshed Basement 1 and Level 1 featuring a dynamic mix of new dining spots, grab-and-go favourites and everyday essentials with a fresh twist. New-to-Hougang brands such as CHAGEE, Jollibee, Skechers, and Xiaomi make their debut alongside refreshed concepts that add convenience and variety to daily shopping. With more stores opening progressively, the mall promises new discoveries with every visit.

Game on at the atrium

At the heart of the campaign, the Level 1 atrium transforms into an energetic play zone packed with simple, family-friendly games. Designed for all ages, the interactive booths invite shoppers to test their reflexes and enjoy light-hearted fun. Attractive vouchers from brands like Skechers, Timezone and Moneymax are also up for grabs, adding extra excitement to the experience.

Customised keepsakes and mystery rewards

Shoppers who spend a minimum of $60 in up to three same-day transactions at participating FRx stores can redeem a customised shaker keychain inspired by the newly opened F&B tenants. With colourful mix-and-match mini charms, these playful accessories make for a fun and personal keepsake.

Those spending at least $100 in up to three same-day transactions can also enjoy a spin-to-reveal experience, unlocking surprise prizes ranging from cute collectibles to practical lifestyle items. Rewards include popular figurines from EPLAY, limited-edition merchandise from Playmade, and essentials from brands such as Owell Bodycare, Vivian & Sean, Bata and Young Hearts.

Complimentary treats for shoppers

As a thank-you to shoppers, Hougang Mall will be offering complimentary bites throughout the campaign period: available at 7pm on weekdays and at 2pm and 5pm on weekends. Treats come from familiar favourites like Dough Culture, Bengawan Solo, Old Chang Kee and Ottie Pancakes, as well as new-to-Hougang names including Kyoto Onimaru, smöoy, Butter & Cream and Firefry, giving shoppers a tasty way to discover new flavours.
