AirAsia’s Dream It: Vol. 2, created in collaboration with SEGA, has brought together emerging creators from across ASEAN for an unforgettable deep dive into Tokyo’s world-renowned gaming culture. Blending discovery, creativity, and cultural exchange, this year’s edition took Dreamers on a five-day journey through Japan’s capital, from arcade-filled streets to the global stage of Tokyo Game Show 2025.
The experience kicked off with RedGames Jam 2025, AirAsia’s annual 48-hour game jam held with industry partners such as SEGA, MDEC, and Asia Pacific University (APU). More than 140 budding developers participated, crafting mobile-friendly games within two days of non-stop ideation.
The winning team, Team Glep, earned the grand prize: an all-expenses-paid journey to Tokyo for Dream It: Vol. 2, complete with rare behind-the-scenes access to SEGA and Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Since 2023, AirAsia and SEGA have worked hand-in-hand to nurture and spotlight rising talent across the region, and this partnership continues to grow through the Dream It platform.
The journey began in Tokyo, where Dreamers from various ASEAN countries met for the first time. Led by renowned streamer and content creator Denise Teo (@supercatkei), the group quickly bonded over conversations, laughter, and a shared love for gaming.
What began as introductions soon evolved into an inspiring exchange of perspectives. The Dreamers discovered firsthand how gaming serves as a universal language.
Across five days, Tokyo became a living classroom for the Dreamers:
Akihabara – The Heart of Play
Dreamers explored Gachapon Kaikan, immersing themselves in Japan’s beloved capsule toy culture. Each capsule offered a spark of creativity.
Taito Station – Arcade Culture in Motion
Inside one of Tokyo’s most iconic arcades, Dreamers experienced the buzz of friendly competition, claw machines, rhythm games, and the timeless charm of Japanese game centres.
Kokyogaien National Garden – Space for Stillness and Reflection
Stepping away from the neon lights, Dreamers gathered at the serene Imperial Palace outer gardens for a reflective session guided by Denise. Here, they sketched, exchanged stories, and found inspiration in stillness.
Passion: Hands-On Creations and Industry Access
One of the journey’s highlights was a Game Console Mod Workshop hosted by Tokyo-based makers PLUS-Y. Under the guidance of Emmi, Toshi, and Shio Sensei, Dreamers learned to rebuild and customise iconic handheld consoles.
The adventure culminated at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where Dreamers joined thousands of global fans and industry leaders in celebrating the future of gaming. Through AirAsia’s collaboration with SEGA, Dreamers enjoyed rare behind-the-scenes access, including a special meeting with Takaya Segawa, Executive Vice President of SEGA Corporation.
They also got a first look at Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, featuring a special AirAsia-branded machine decal.
Now a signature brand experience under The Colour of Connection (TCOC) campaign, Dream It continues to celebrate culture, collaboration, and rising ASEAN voices. Following Vol. 1’s focus on music in Manila, Vol. 2’s gaming adventure in Tokyo marks another milestone, with more to come.
