Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Opens, Showcasing Malaysian Heritage Through Elevated Luxury

A new era of luxury hospitality has arrived in Malaysia with the opening of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, the country’s first Park Hyatt property. Perched atop Merdeka 118, the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the city while celebrating the richness of Malaysian culture through its design and experience.

Crafted by award-winning design studio GA Group, the hotel reimagines the traditional Malay Kampung House with contemporary elegance. Every detail reflects Malaysia’s artistic legacy, from batik and songket to wood carving and weaving, weaving tradition seamlessly into a world-class hospitality setting.

A Cultural Journey in Design

Guests are welcomed through an arrival experience that mirrors the Rumah Panggung, with an elegant ground-level entrance leading to a serambi-inspired veranda on Level 3. Timber shutters and brass accents create a warm, residential ambiance, filtering light throughout the day.

At Level 75, the hotel’s reception area, conceived as the “Porch” of the house, serves as its social heart. Here, natural materials, double-height brass batik screens, and sweeping city views set the tone for a refined yet grounded atmosphere.

Dining with Distinction

Three dining venues bring Malaysia’s culinary and cultural heritage to life:

  • Park Lounge: A bright, airy space anchored by an open kitchen with Peranakan-inspired tiles.
  • Lounge Area: Intimate and warm, ideal for relaxed gatherings.
  • Merdeka Grill: A specialty restaurant defined by bold silver travertine and dramatic design.
  • The Cacao Bar: Accented with amazonite stone and timber shutters, transforming into a vibrant evening destination.

Private Sanctuaries in the Sky

The hotel’s guestrooms and suites are designed as tranquil retreats, each featuring a modern take on the traditional veranda with panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur. Mirrored panels, linen wall textures, brass detailing, and Kampung-style shutters bring warmth and sophistication. Woven motifs appear throughout, from brass tiles in showers to rattan lighting, ensuring every corner carries a touch of local craftsmanship.

A Wellness Haven Above the City

The spa on Level 99 offers a serene escape inspired by Malaysia’s iconic “five-foot way” shophouse architecture. Soft mesh screens and traditional motifs create a calming ambiance, guiding guests through archways toward immersive wellness experiences, all while overlooking the city skyline.
