This October, Cirque Alice reimagines the fantastical world of Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Caroll with almost gravity-defying stunts, breathtakingly beautiful aerial performances, all set to make your October night fun and interesting.
I have watched previous Cirque performances at Marina Bay Sands and kind of have an expectation of what I will be treated to when I stepped into Sand Theatre to catch Cirque Alice. Nonetheless, this was way better than what I have expected and would highly recommend it for fans of this modern, visual presentation of a timless classic in acrobatics.
Brought to you the creator of Cirque de Soleil’s Mad Apple and the Broadway smash hit The Illusionists, with inspiration from Cirque de Soleil, stunning acrobatic scenes are to be expected at the Sands Theatre.
The stage itself is colourful and bright, with seats on the stage itself for those who would like to get the view of everything happening in the performance.
Your ears, too, are in for a treat, as the show enthralls you with the White Rabbit’s astounding violin skills as he plays classical reworked pieces like Blue Danube and Flight of the Bumblebee, as well as Alice’s amazing opera. The musical presentation here was something unexpected and a delightful surprise.
Beautiful scenes like these are just the beginning, with these large scale displays of a lack of a fear of heights.
Dangerous stunts that keep you on edge, constantly making you feel this sense of danger and fear for the performers.
And even stunningly perilous stunts accompanied by more classical music from the White Rabbit.
Colourful, befuddling performance routines, leaving you in shock and awe of what just happened.
Fun interjections here and there from the mad hatter as he does audience control, cracks you up with silly jokes and magic tricks, and giving you that well-needed mental break from watching performers defy death on stage.
And straight back into gravity-defying daredevil-like stunts that make you pray for the performer’s safety.
Followed by less dangerous but equally impressive juggling, making it feel as if the balls are floating.
Smooth and entrancing acrobatic movements from the Queen of Hearts herself.
Beautifully photogenic stunts that you wouldn’t believe how high up they were.
And finally, the performers say their goodbyes!
Overall, the experience was indescribable, keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I went it with muted expectations, expecting it to be a regular performance that I would watch and forget, but needless to say, I was blown away by the simply astounding performances and acrobatics.
Great entertainment for the whole family that you can bring a diverse group from all ages!
