Grain Unveils ‘From Test to Table’: A Behind-the-Scenes Culinary Experience

For one day only, homegrown food experience brand Grain invited the public into the heart of its operations with From Test to Table, its first-ever living kitchen experience. Held to mark the launch of Grain’s refreshed menu and catering offerings, this immersive event peeled back the curtain on the innovation, creativity, and passion that drive the brand’s beloved Meals on Demand and Catering services.

Hosted inside Grain’s test kitchen and brought to life in collaboration with global brand practice Anak and botanical design studio This Humid House, the multisensory showcase guided visitors through a journey of food experimentation, flavor curation, and meticulous research. Across eight kitchen-themed exhibition stations, guests explored how ingredients are chosen, how dishes evolve, and how ideas are inspired by global street food, all leading to the signature quality Grain is known for.

Step Inside Grain’s Creative Kitchen

Visitors were welcomed into an exhibit that resembled a working test kitchen, complete with real ingredients and equipment. Highlights included:

  • Ingredient Obsession: Herbs, spices, and produce are carefully curated in-house to ensure premium quality at every step.
  • Relentless Refinement: From over 40 test batches of otah to seven iterations of the Grilled Farm Fresh Chicken since 2014, Grain’s process leaves no detail untouched.
  • Global Inspiration: A globe installation showed how international cuisines — from Japan to Thailand — inform weekly tastings and dish development.
  • Quality at Scale: Simulated dry runs demonstrated how Grain maintains consistent quality whether catering to 10 or 1,500 guests.

The experience culminated in a communal dining area, adorned with dramatic botanical centrepieces by This Humid House, where guests could sample a curated tasting menu of new dishes and fan favourites.

Introducing Grain’s New Menu & Elevated Catering Experience

Coinciding with its 11th anniversary, Grain also launched over 30 new dishes designed to bridge the gap between restaurant-quality dining and scalable catering. Highlights include:

  • Ispahan Sweet and Sour Fish – A Singaporean favourite infused with rose essence, offering floral complexity and crispy freshness.
  • French Onion Chicken Stew – Deep, rich flavours delivered in a dish that scales without compromise.
  • Scandinavian Avocado Prawn Salad – A vibrant, creamy salad that stays fresh long into service.
  • Raspberry Thyme Crumble – A unique dessert crafted with input from a Michelin-starred pastry chef.

As part of the brand’s ongoing mission to transform catering, Grain now features elevated buffet lines with stylised floral displays, along with enhancements in menu design, service standards, and event presentation.
