DayOne Breaks Ground on Singapore’s First Hyperscale Data Center Powered by 100% Renewable Energy

DayOne, a Singapore-based global data center developer, has officially broken ground on its first hyperscale data center in Singapore—a landmark move that promises to reshape the region’s digital infrastructure with sustainability at its core.

Spanning 40,000 square meters with a capacity of 20 megawatts, the cutting-edge facility is set to go live in 2026. The groundbreaking ceremony also marked two major milestones: a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sembcorp Power to fully power the facility with renewable energy, and a new R&D partnership with the National University of Singapore (NUS) under the Sustainable Tropical Data Center Testbed Phase 2.0 initiative.

The upcoming data center will feature high-density GPU support, hybrid air and liquid cooling systems, and will pilot Singapore’s first on-site Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) for power generation—an innovative step toward hydrogen-based energy adoption. DayOne also aims to attain both LEED Platinum and BCA Green Mark Platinum (GMDC:2024) certifications.

Awarded capacity under Singapore’s Pilot Data Center Call for Application by IMDA and EDB, the project plays a key role in the SIJORI (Singapore-Johor-Riau Islands) regional digital strategy. It also aligns with the government’s Digital Connectivity Blueprint and National AI Strategy 2.0 to scale compute infrastructure for AI innovation.

The groundbreaking was attended by key figures from IMDA, JTC, Sembcorp, NUS, and DayOne’s leadership.
