Cardboard Playgrounds, Upcycled Merlions, and More: UOL Malls Celebrate SG60 with Sustainability and Play

This July, UOL Malls are bringing back Green Movement With U—and for its fourth and most exciting edition yet, it’s all about celebrating Singapore’s 60th birthday through sustainability, creativity, and connection. Running from 18 July to 17 August 2025, the campaign unfolds across KINEX, United Square, and Velocity@Novena Square, inviting families to Rediscover. Reuse. Reimagine Singapore.

Step Into a Cardboard Wonderland of National Icons

At the heart of this SG60 campaign is the SG60 Green Playground—a roving, interactive exhibition built entirely from recycled corrugated cardboard. Designed to support up to 150kg, the playground reimagines childhood fun through a nostalgic, eco-conscious lens. Explore a giant Snakes and Ladders board that highlights key national milestones, slide down a whimsical Agar Agar Slide, bounce on a Peranakan See-Saw, and snap photos at a life-sized replica of the beloved Toa Payoh Dragon Playground. Other highlights include MRT-inspired photo walls and traditional checkered tables, perfect for those Instagrammable moments.

A Merlion Made of Memories

In collaboration with local social enterprise Circular Classroom, UOL presents Merlion Re: Stitched—a 2.5-metre-tall Merlion sculpture created from pre-loved school uniforms. Visitors are invited to contribute to the evolving artwork by sewing in donated fabric pieces with the help of on-site facilitators. It’s a hands-on way to honour shared memories while promoting sustainability. Kids can also bring home a little piece of the magic by crafting their own Merlion-themed bookmarks.

Weekend Workshops & Eco Fairs

Every weekend, UOL Malls will come alive with Eco Fairs featuring local, eco-conscious brands. From sustainable lifestyle goods to handcrafted treasures, there’s plenty to explore and shop sustainably.
