Independent cinema The Projector teams up with the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) for a cinematic exploration of roads, journeys, and emotional landscapes through a special film programme curated by renowned Singaporean artist Heman Chong. Part of Chong’s major survey exhibition This is a dynamic list and may never be able to satisfy particular standards for completeness, the programme will run at The Projector Cineleisure, featuring two iconic films that deeply influenced Chong’s artistic journey.
Titled “Notes on Roads, Trips and Other Possible Slips and Falls”, the showcase reflects themes of displacement, isolation, and introspective transformation—common threads in Chong’s work and in the films he’s selected:
Screening: 19 July only
A hypnotic study of masculinity, duty, and desire, set against the stark desert of Djibouti.
Screening: 26 July only
An emotionally raw tale of love and disconnection between two men adrift in Buenos Aires.
Both films are rarely seen on the big screen and have not had a theatrical run in Singapore for over two years—making this a rare opportunity to revisit these masterpieces in their full cinematic glory.
Beyond the screenings, ticket holders enjoy exclusive perks:
This thought-provoking programme invites viewers to walk the emotional roads that shaped Chong’s formative years as an artist, while re-experiencing two defining films that shaped global cinema in the 1990s.
