Cathay Pacific Launches First-Ever Non-Stop Flights from Hong Kong to Munich, Expanding European Footprint

Cathay Pacific has officially taken off on its inaugural non-stop flight from Hong Kong to Munich, marking a significant milestone as the airline connects its home hub to the Bavarian capital for the first time. The new route strengthens Cathay Pacific’s growing European network, following the recent seasonal launch to Rome on 5 June and ahead of its highly anticipated return to Brussels on 3 August.

This expansion is part of a broader global push by the Cathay Group. Together with low-cost sister airline HK Express, the group now serves 100 passenger destinations worldwide, offering travelers greater connectivity and choice. A total of 18 new destinations are being added to their joint network in 2025, with more announcements expected soon.

This June alone has seen an impressive flurry of activity: Cathay Pacific has inaugurated flights to both Rome and Munich, while HK Express has begun serving Cheongju and Daegu, with Miyako (Shimojishima) to follow shortly.

Flights on the new Munich route are operated using the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900, which offers fully flat beds in Business Class, enhanced comfort in Premium Economy, and upgraded features in Economy.

With Brussels joining the roster in August, Cathay Pacific will operate nearly 100 weekly return flights to 12 European cities during the summer peak—including major destinations such as London Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Zurich.

Adding to its passenger network, Cathay Cargo is also scaling up with plans for seven dedicated freighter flights per week between Hong Kong and Europe by summer 2025.
