In a tropical country like Singapore, where humidity and heat dominate most of the year, personal cooling solutions are not just a luxury, some may even deem them as survival tools. Enter the Sony REON POCKET PRO, the latest innovation from Sony Thermo Technology, and possibly the most exciting wearable gadget we have seen so far in 2025.
Launched in Singapore on 20 May, this upgraded wearable thermo-device promises smarter, quieter, and longer-lasting cooling and heating.
We took the REON POCKET PRO out for a spin around Singapore and came away impressed. Here is everything you need to know about this futuristic personal climate control device.
While I have tested the REON POCKET PRO’s predecessor, my understanding is that it has gotten a significant upgrade, with juiced up features like:
In simple terms, this is the most powerful and user-friendly REON yet.
The REON POCKET PRO primarily targets our neck area, a spot with many blood vessels close to the surface. By cooling or heating this area, the device is said to help regulate your overall body temperature quickly and effectively.
Two of the best features for us about the REON POCKET PRO is how hands-free and low-profile it is.
Once worn under a shirt or blouse, the device becomes nearly invisible. It sits discreetly on the back of your neck, held in place by a flexible and adjustable neckband that is comfortable enough to wear all day.
This is perfect to combat Singapore’s hot and sticky weather if you need to be outdoor a lot. Unlike handheld fans or cooling scarves, the REON provides consistent, localised cooling without occupying your hands or drawing unwanted attention.
While we often focus on staying cool in Singapore, the REON POCKET PRO is also designed to heat. This makes it especially handy for Singaporeans who travel to winter destinations or work in cold indoor environments like over-airconditioned offices.
In WARM mode, the device offers adjustable heating levels. The Smart COOL⇔WARM mode even toggles between cooling and heating automatically, depending on skin temperature, surroundings, and personal preferences.
The result is dynamic, adaptive comfort.
The PRO model includes smarter sensors and algorithms to adjust performance based on:
This intelligence allows for up to 15 hours of cooling in SMART mode, far exceeding what we would expect from something so compact.
In addition, the AUTO START/STOP feature uses electrostatic sensors to reduce accidental activation, which is particularly useful when storing the device in your bag or removing it temporarily.
Here in Singapore, we tested the REON POCKET PRO on MRT rides, hawker centre lunches, and evening walks. Here is how it fared:
To be clear, the REON POCKET PRO is not a substitute for a fan. It does not circulate air, nor does it cool entire spaces. Think of it as a personal climate assistant that complements your portable fan. When used together, the two can offer full-body comfort, especially for those prone to heat rash or sweating.
Also, while you do not need an app for basic use, advanced customisation like “My Mode” (a programmable sequence of heating and cooling) does require the REON Pocket app on Android or iOS.
Overall, the REON Pocket Pro is on the pricy side, but is well worth the investment if you are someone who value keeping yourself at a optimal, comfortable temperature at all time.
The Sony REON POCKET PRO retails at S$329 and is available now in Singapore through:
Early Bird Promotion: From now until 30 June 2025, My Sony Rewards Members can get $20 off, bringing the price down to S$309.
If you’re tired of sweating through your shirt on your way to lunch or shivering in an overcooled meeting room, this might just be the smart wearable you never knew you needed.
