Pink Screen 2025 Returns to The Projector with Bold Films, Queer Icons, and Rainbow Bites

Singapore’s biggest LGBTQIA+ film festival, Pink Screen, is making a triumphant return to The Projector from 30 May to 29 June, in celebration of Pride Month. Co-presented by indie cinema The Projector and global entertainment powerhouse NBCUniversal International, this year marks the sixth edition of the acclaimed festival, which has previously showcased gems like Bugis Street (1995), Happy Together (1997), and Joyland (2022).

The 2025 edition promises a cinematic celebration of queer voices with five award-winning films that champion representation, diversity, and love in all its forms.

Headlining the festival is the highly anticipated Singapore premiere of The Wedding Banquet—a star-studded LGBTQIA+ rom-com featuring Bowen Yang, Kelly Marie Tran, Lily Gladstone, and a guest appearance by legendary actress Joan Chen. Expect a glittering opening night filled with heart, humour, and a healthy dose of chaos.

Also making waves is Queens of Drama, fresh from the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it earned a Queer Palm nomination. This fabulously camp French musical, about rival contestants on an Idol-style show who fall in love, marks its first-ever screening in Asia at Pink Screen.

Another Cannes nominee on the lineup is the Japanese coming-of-age tale My Sunshine, helmed by Hiroshi Okuyama. Featuring dreamy improvisations by its young cast and set to Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque, the film was nominated for both the Queer Palm and the prestigious Un Certain Regard award.

Rounding out the festival is Dreams (Sex Love)—the final chapter in Dag Johan Haugerud’s “Sex, Dreams and Love” trilogy and winner of the Berlinale Golden Bear. A tender and philosophical tale of a teen girl who pens a poetic diary about her romantic feelings for her teacher, the film explores generational connections, identity, and desire.

Beyond the screen, The Projector keeps things cheeky and delicious with exclusive Pink Screen eats at its Cineleisure location. Festival specials include Rainbow Churros ($8), the fully-loaded Topped Dog ($14), and a crisp Pink Gin Spritz ($16)—available only during the festival run.
