UBS Singapore has entered the Singapore Book of Records with a stunning 60-meter-long tapestry crafted from upcycled textiles, commemorating Singapore’s 60th year of independence (SG60). Unveiled as part of UBS’s inaugural “Art for All” community art program, this collective masterpiece symbolizes Singapore’s journey of unity and progress while reinforcing UBS’s commitment to sustainability and the arts.
The tapestry, created with over 35kg of textiles, is the result of a donation drive organized by UBS employees, which collected an impressive 400kg of fabric. While excess materials were donated and recycled, the core materials were transformed into art through community weaving activities and workshops. Participants included UBS employees, Care Corner children, and other community partners, fostering creativity and collaboration at UBS’s flagship office at 9 Penang Road.
Fairgoers at ART SG 2025 can view the tapestry and even contribute to this initiative by participating in Sustainable Weaving activities at the UBS Art Studio from 17 to 19 January 2025. After the event, the tapestry will return to UBS’s office as a tribute to the collective creativity of the community.
UBS’s presence at ART SG 2025 extends beyond the tapestry. As the Founding and Lead Partner of the fair for the third consecutive year, UBS will showcase new works by renowned Thai contemporary artist Mit Jai Inn. Mit’s creations, known for their vibrant textures and interactivity, will be featured at both the UBS Lounge and UBS Art Studio, inviting audiences to engage with art in dynamic ways.
Key highlights include:
Mit’s works align with UBS’s dedication to making art accessible, turning viewing into an interactive experience that inspires audiences to reimagine their surroundings.
As a global art leader and Global Lead Partner of Art Basel, UBS’s involvement with ART SG underscores its dedication to championing contemporary art. The UBS Art Collection, with over 40,000 works by global and regional artists, reflects this mission. Past commissions have featured Southeast Asian artists like Dawn Ng, Hilmi Johandi, Eko Nugroho, and Danh Vo.
Join the celebration of SG60 and explore cutting-edge contemporary art at ART SG 2025, where UBS’s tapestry and Mit Jai Inn’s masterpieces promise to leave a lasting impression.
