Crunchyroll Anime Awards Returns to Tokyo on 25 May 2025 Celebrating the Best in Anime

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is set to return to Tokyo on May 25, 2025. Announced at Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in São Paulo, Brazil, the ninth annual event will feature a star-studded orange carpet and a live-streamed ceremony, connecting anime enthusiasts around the world.

This year’s event welcomes a groundbreaking addition: Pabllo Vittar, Brazil’s iconic drag pop star and devoted anime fan, as the first-ever Brazilian celebrity presenter. The lineup of presenters will include prominent figures from television, film, sports, fashion, and music, with more announcements and musical performances to come.

Returning as co-hosts are fan-favorite Sally Amaki, a beloved voice actress and idol, alongside entertainer Jon Kabira. Sony Group Corporation Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida will once again deliver opening remarks, underscoring the industry’s global impact.

The 2025 Anime Awards introduces significant updates, including a new eligibility timeline that spans from October 1, 2023, to December 30, 2024, covering five anime seasons. This transition ensures no series or creator goes unrecognized. Moving forward, eligibility will align with a full calendar year, enhancing clarity for fans and judges alike.

With 32 categories celebrating anime’s diverse contributions to global culture, this year’s awards expand to include new honors like Best Isekai and Best Hindi Voice Artist alongside fan favorites like Best Opening Sequence and Best Main Character. The full list of categories is available on the Anime Awards Official Website.

Nominees, selected by an esteemed panel of global judges, will be unveiled on April 3, 2025, as fan voting kicks off. Winners will be honored at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, with Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions partnering to deliver an unforgettable experience for both in-person and online audiences.
