Xinjiang’s captivating culture and stunning landscapes took center stage at the 2024 China International Travel Mart, held from November 22-24 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai. Spearheaded by Trip.com Group and the Xinjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the “Kiss Xinjiang” project celebrated the region’s year-round allure, drawing global attention to its rich heritage and diverse attractions.

A Showcase of Xinjiang’s Wonders

Representing 12 regions, three hotels, 15 scenic spots, and a robust delegation of 37 cultural and tourism enterprises, Xinjiang’s exhibit unveiled 379 cultural and agricultural products. Highlights included iconic destinations like the Hami Yadan Scenic Area, Bosten Lake, Tianchi International Ski Resort, and the enchanting Grape Valley in Turpan.

The 163-square-meter Xinjiang pavilion, themed around the renowned China National Highway 219 (G219) and the breathtaking Duku Road, offered a multidimensional experience. Visitors were treated to a vibrant display of:

  • Ice and Snow Tourism
  • Authentic Xinjiang Cuisine
  • Creative Cultural Products
  • Smart Tourism Platforms
  • Handcrafted Agricultural Goods

The exhibit’s immersive setup, paired with live ethnic dance performances and engaging installations, left a lasting impression on attendees, including international influencers and travel enthusiasts.

A Year-Round Invitation

Xinjiang’s tourism representatives from Urumqi, Altay, Kashgar, and Hotan showcased the region’s seasonal treasures, from winter skiing and snow appreciation to wellness retreats. The presentations painted a poetic picture of Xinjiang’s diverse landscapes, from the snow-capped peaks of Altay to the golden deserts of Turpan, inviting travelers to experience its unmatched beauty and vibrant culture.

Fostering Global Tourism Connections

The “Kiss Xinjiang” initiative reflects a strategic partnership between Trip.com Group and the Xinjiang Department of Culture and Tourism, aiming to elevate Xinjiang as a premier global travel destination. The project also aligns with China’s “Tourism Revitalises Xinjiang” strategy, emphasizing cultural exchanges and sustainable tourism development.

Adding to its reach, the project visited Shanghai Songjiang University Town on November 23, hosting a Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference that inspired students to discover Xinjiang’s charm.
