Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer at Marina Bay Sands has built a reputation for delivering bold flavours and hearty meals inspired by New York’s vibrant food culture. The restaurant’s decor pays homage to the classic American luncheonette, with elements of plywood and heavy metal for a modern, edgy vibe.
Diners can also witness the making of their attention-grabbing towering shakes at the open CrazyShake bar, which features an island fixture made of glass candy display cases with white glazed subway tile walls.
We have been there several times and in Singapore, they appear to be best known for their signature CrazyShakes. Think of supersized American-style milkshake, packed with outrageous toppings, ranging from candy bars to whole lollipops to an entire cinnamon roll.
On our recent visit, we sampled a range of offerings, including the award-winning Wagyu Steakhouse Burger, the whimsical Churro Choco Taco shake, and the restaurant’s special edition NY Street Dog and Chili Cheese Dog:
As a 2021 Judge’s Choice Award winner at NYC’s Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash, expectations were high for this burger and it did not disappoint.
The wagyu patty, grilled to perfection, was complemented by tangy A1 steak sauce, pepper jack cheese, smoky bacon, crispy onions, and roasted garlic aioli. Each bite offered a medley of savory, creamy, and crunchy textures that showcased the premium ingredients.
The portion size was supersize generous, making it the ultimate comfort food. Come with a empty stomach to tame this beast of a burger.
Black Tap’s CrazyShakes are a feast for both the eyes and the palate, and the Churro Choco Taco is built to dazzle.
This dessert-in-a-glass features a vanilla shake with a whole cinnamon toast crunch-frosted rim, topped with a Choco Taco, two crispy churros, whipped cream, and a drizzle of dulce de leche.
While undeniably indulgent, its huge portion size and sweetness might be overwhelming for some, so it is best shared among friends.
These special edition hot dogs are a tribute to New York’s iconic street food and were available for a limited time only in their October menu.
The NY Street Dog keeps it classic with a juicy sausage loaded with tangy sauerkraut and mustard, offering a nostalgic bite of the Big Apple.
The Chili Cheese Dog, on the other hand, amps up the flavour with a robust house-made chili, gooey melted cheese, and crispy frizzled onions.
Both hot dogs deliver on taste, with the Chili Cheese Dog standing out for its bold, hearty profile.
For some greens to complement the meal, we savoured their crispy brussels sprouts, paired with sesame tahini for the extra zest.
From its award-winning burgers to its indulgent shakes and creative hot dogs, Black Tap has the winning formula when it comes to elevated American comfort food. The restaurant has been in Singapore for some time and from the look of it, it is here to stay.
