Martell Unveils L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent for Year of the Snake

In honor of the Year of the Snake, Maison Martell introduces its latest masterpiece: L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent. This exceptional cognac is a limited-edition release of just 500 individually numbered bottles, showcasing a blend as enigmatic as the serpent it celebrates, housed in a stunning Baccarat crystal decanter.

A Blend Inspired by the Serpent’s Mystique

Martell’s Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud crafts each Zodiac Edition to embody the essence of the year’s zodiac symbol while preserving the timeless character of L’Or de Jean Martell. For 2025, Valtaud draws inspiration from Nüwa, the ancient goddess of Chinese mythology known for her wisdom and compassion.

The blend incorporates very old eaux-de-vie from previous Years of the Snake, seamlessly integrated with the original L’Or blend—a symphony of over 1,400 eaux-de-vie from Cognac’s finest terroirs. This meticulous process ensures a cognac of unparalleled depth, refined over months to achieve perfect balance and complexity.

From its light amber hue with mahogany highlights to its evolving aromas, this cognac mirrors the serpent’s duality:

  • Initial notes: Citrus and soft spices evoke the serpent’s grace.
  • Evolving profile: Hints of cedar, walnuts, and candied fruits blend with blackcurrant and quince marmalade.
  • On the palate: Smooth, velvety textures give way to bold citrus, woody undertones, and a lingering tobacco finish, capturing the serpent’s poised yet powerful nature.

A Decanter of Artistry and Elegance

In collaboration with French crystal house Baccarat, Martell has created a decanter worthy of its exquisite blend. Shaped like a single drop of cognac, the mouth-blown crystal decanter is crowned with a striking red crystal serpent-head stopper.

Key design details include:

  • A 19-carat gold neck engraved with snakeskin motifs and the bottle’s unique edition number.
  • A gold-tone pedestal adorned with delicate scales, echoing the serpent’s symbolism.
  • A luxurious red cabinet, intricately decorated with interlaced snakeskin patterns, a golden Martell coat of arms, and coiling serpents, offering both elegance and mystique.

A Celebration of Friendship and Tradition

L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent celebrates the wisdom and courage of the snake while reflecting the enduring bond between Maison Martell and China. Launching in time for Chinese New Year 2025, the release is set to captivate collectors, cognac enthusiasts, and connoisseurs.

In Singapore, a limited number of bottles will be available exclusively through Le Cercle, Pernod Ricard’s private clientele platform. Prices will be shared upon request.

An Experiential Introduction

To mark the release, Martell will host an immersive pop-up event in early January, offering fans and collectors an opportunity to explore the story behind this rare cognac. Details will be announced soon.

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with this extraordinary expression of Maison Martell’s 300-year legacy, available to a privileged few worldwide.
