Singapore Art Week 2025: A Creative Celebration Across the Island

Get ready for the return of Singapore Art Week (SAW) from 17 to 26 January 2025, bringing ten days of artistic vibrancy to the Lion City. This 13th edition of Southeast Asia’s premier visual arts season, organized by the National Arts Council (NAC) and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), promises more than 130 exciting arts events that will ignite your senses and connect communities.

Art Takes Over: Highlights Across the City

Expect a creative buzz as local and international artists, galleries, and partners present diverse experiences ranging from open-call projects to roving exhibitions. Key highlights include:

  • Familiar Favourites: Iconic events like ART SG, S.E.A. Focus, and Light to Night Singapore 2025 return alongside late-night programs like Art After Dark at Gillman Barracks and Sonic Sessions at Tanjong Pagar Distripark.
  • Innovative Installations: Discover the Con-Temporary Art miniature gallery, blending installations and performances, or explore multimedia exhibits like Before and After the Unknown at Fort Canning Park, reimagining 11th-century Temasek through speculative fiction.
  • Culinary Meets Art: At The Arts House Annex, the SATS Experiential Centre offers exclusive dining experiences inspired by the installation DIGikat – Our Social Fabric, merging tradition, innovation, and gastronomy.

Art in Everyday Spaces

Art spreads to unconventional locations, from MRT stations adorned with contemporary wraps as part of the Art in Transit program to viaduct pillars transformed near Bukit Gombak MRT. Meanwhile, open studios at Emily Hill, Telok Kurau, and Wessex invite the public to connect with artists’ creative processes.

Connecting Singapore to Global Communities

SAW 2025 solidifies Singapore’s position as a cultural hub with exhibitions and partnerships bridging local and international art scenes:

  • Global Collaborations: Discover glass art at Beyond Giving, Inspiring Change by Bangkok Glass Company or explore Adam Park’s lush landscapes with OH! Open House’s The Eye and The Tiger.
  • International Perspectives: Experience the return of works from global platforms, including Robert Zhao Renhui’s Seeing Forest (Biennale Arte 2024) and Zen Teh’s Phenomenology Of Light And Rhythms Of The Earth, first exhibited in Berlin.

SG60: Reflecting on Singapore’s Journey

In celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence, SAW collaborates with PAssionArts to present five community projects across neighborhoods. Highlights include National Antiquities Parade, commemorating iconic events like the National Day Parade, and Singkarpor REMIXED, a photography exhibition by AikBeng Chia that captures the evolving essence of Singapore.
