SNOWSAND, a popular winter-exclusive confectionery brand from Hokkaido, Japan is now available in Singapore. Established by Japanese entrepreneur Shintaro Naganuma, known for revolutionising the pastry industry in Japan as the founder and former CEO of BAKE Inc., SNOWSAND is hosting its inaugural pop-up at Takashimaya Department Store’s B2 Food Hall from 20 November to 26 December 2024.
A key highlight of SNOWSAND’s confectionary is its commitment to premium Hokkaido ingredients. The brand offers two signature treats in Singapore:
Made with rich Hokkaido milk and butter, sandwiched between crispy Langue de Chat cookies using a unique high-temperature baking method.
Prices: 8 pcs (Shiro/Kuro) at $22.00, 16 pcs gift box (8 Shiro and 8 Kuro) at $53.00.
Featuring light, airy Hokkaido cream wrapped in fragrant, silky chocolate.
Price: 9 pcs at $16.00.
Founded by Shintaro Naganuma, who previously introduced the world to BAKE CHEESE TART, SNOWSAND reflects his passion for premium Japanese sweets. After stepping down from BAKE Inc., Naganuma expanded his knowledge of dairy farming in the United States before returning to Japan to launch SNOWS under the Hokkaido Confect Group.
The brand’s products seek to showcase the best of Hokkaido’s seasonal ingredients, including milk from free-range cows and eggs from sustainably raised hens. SNOWSAND prioritises quality and sustainability, employing circular farming practices that minimise waste and enhance local ecosystems.
SNOWSAND’s production practices include:
SNOWSAND’s packaging features nostalgic winter imagery by woodblock artist Kazuyoshi Otani (1933–2014), celebrating Hokkaido’s snowy landscapes and evoking a sense of seasonal nostalgia.
We savoured both the chocolate sandwiches and the chocolate truffle balls from SANDSNOW and enjoyed them thoroughly, evoking memories of the snowscape during Hokkaido’s winter.
The former packs a playful crunch with the light cookie crust and delicate chocolatey middle, available in both dark and white chocolate.
The truffle balls look like ordinary chocolate balls from the outside, but after you sink a bite, the soft, milky white core looks like an actual snowball and the sweetness of the fresh Hokkaido milk melts in your mouth. Lovely to the core.
Further enhancing the enjoyment, the packaging are elegant and beautiful, making them perfect for an elevated gifting experience.
The prices are on the steeper end, but it is well worth it for the premium enjoyment.
If you are interested to try SNOWSAND’s famed winter-exclusive confections or to get them as gifts for friends and family, they are available for a limited time only in Singapore at Takashimaya from 20 November to 26 December 2024.
