This morning, Jetstar Asia (3K) resumed its direct service between Singapore and Medan, Indonesia, with flight 3K285 taking off from Changi Airport. Jetstar Asia now stands as the only low-cost carrier offering direct flights between these two popular destinations, marking a significant expansion in affordable travel options.
The daily return service, operated by Jetstar Asia’s Airbus A320 fleet, will provide over 130,000 low-fare seats annually between Singapore’s Changi Airport and Medan’s Kualanamu International Airport. The route is anticipated to cater to both business and leisure travelers, reinforcing connections between the two cities. This route to Medan joins Jetstar Asia’s existing Indonesian destinations of Jakarta, Denpasar, and Surabaya.
Medan, celebrated for its vibrant culinary scene, rich cultural heritage, and close proximity to natural attractions like Lake Toba, offers a diverse appeal for travelers seeking both urban and nature-based experiences.
John Simeone, CEO of Jetstar Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the route’s return after a four-year suspension: “Medan is an important destination for many of our customers, and we’re excited to reconnect these vibrant cities with affordable and convenient travel options. As the only low-cost carrier to serve this route, we remain committed to making travel accessible.”
Kedar Deshpande, Director of Commercial and Business Development at Kualanamu International Airport, welcomed the resumption: “Singapore is a popular destination from our region, and Medan provides a unique variety of getaway options for travelers from Singapore. We are pleased to support Jetstar Asia’s commitment to growing this market.”
