Arts House Limited Hosts Successful Launch of Mass-Sketching Event “Sketch Up” in Civic District

Arts House Limited (AHL) successfully launched Sketch Up today, an outdoor mass-sketching event held in Singapore’s Civic District.

The inaugural event, organised in partnership with Art Apart Fair, brought together over 400 art enthusiasts who gathered from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm to capture the vibrant scene of the Civic District and sketch the historic Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.

Held at Empress Lawn, participants enjoyed the unique opportunity to sketch the neoclassical architecture of the iconic Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, with its renowned Clock Tower inspired by Queen Victoria’s crown. As part of the Arts in the Civic District initiative, Sketch Up aims to deepen public appreciation for the architectural and cultural significance of this area.

Joining the event were renowned urban landscape painter Chankerk Teh and artists from Urban Sketchers Singapore, who guided participants in capturing the ever-evolving beauty of Singapore’s urban landscape.

In addition to the live event, participants can submit their artwork for a digital showcase on the Civic District’s website, where the public will vote for their favorite pieces. The winning artist will receive a Huion Kamvas 13 Drawing Pad Tablet and Pen Display (valued at $239) and a Brasserie Astoria dining voucher worth $100, with additional dining vouchers awarded to two lucky voters.

Registered participants received goodie bags, including an exclusive AHL tote bag, a bucket hat, Sparky the Civic District guide hand fan, an Art Friend voucher, and POKKA drinks. Attendees brought personal sketching tools, with younger children receiving coloring sheets and pencils.
